On May 2, the first League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2023 matches kicked off. This year, the event takes place in London, and the Copper Box Arena hosts the decisive battles. The tournament has a new format, and the addition of community casting may help it break viewership records. 

Mid-Season Invitational 2023 Streams

The Mid-Season Invitational 2023 has already begun, and it's being covered in multiple languages on the major official League of Legends channels. Games are streamed on Twitch, YouTube, AfreecaTV, Nimo TV, BiliBili, Trovo, and other platforms. However, the main feature of the Mid-Season Invitational 2023 is community casting.

This year's Mid-Season Invitational matches are covered by some of the top streamers on their personal channels. Among them are ibai, Caedrel, IWDominate, Doublelift, Sneaky, Doinb, Wolf, Skyyart, Lynx, and more. In total, more than 30 community casters and club channels are expected to cover the event. 

Community casting will definitely increase the reach of the Mid-Season Invitational 2023. The series has already been growing year over year, setting new records for viewership and Hours Watched. 

Mid-Season Invitational 2023 Format

The 2023 Mid-Season Invitational will be played in two stages: the Play-In Stage and the Bracket Stage. The first stage will feature five teams from the PCS, VCS, LJL, CBLoL and LLA regional leagues as well as teams that took second places in the LPL, LEC and LCS franchise leagues. A total of eight participants will play in the double-elimination bracket (best-of-3 series format). The Top 3 teams will advance to the Bracket Stage. 

Play-In starting matches: 

  • PSG Talon vs. DetonatioN FocusMe; 

  • G2 Esports vs LOUD; 

  • Bilibili Gaming vs Rainbow7; 

  • Golden Guardians vs. GAM Esports. 

The Bracket Stage will also be a double-elimination bracket (best-of-5 series format). This stage will feature the Top 3 Play-In teams as well as the Top 5 teams from LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS.

  • T1; 
  • Gen.G; 
  • JD Gaming; 
  • Cloud9; 
  • MAD Lions; 
  • TBD (Play-In #1); 
  • TBD (Play-In #2); 
  • TBD (Play-In #3). 

We should note that the Korean league received two invitations to the Bracket Stage at once, as a team from that region won the 2022 World Championship.

Last year, Mid-Season Invitational 2022 games accumulated more than 48.1 million HW. The event saw 588K Average Viewers, and the Grand Final between T1 and RNG was watched by nearly 2.2 million Peak Viewers.
