VALORANT Champions 2024 has officially begun in Seoul, marking the highlight of the season for the game. The tournament features the best teams from around the globe competing for a substantial prize pool of $2.25 million. This year, sixteen teams are contending for the championship title, and interestingly, none of the previous world champions are participating.

The tournament features four teams from each of the partner leagues: Americas, Pacific, EMEA, and China. The competition starts with a group stage using the GSL format. Following this, the top eight teams will progress to a double-elimination playoffs bracket to determine the ultimate champion.

The key favorites for the tournament are Sentinels and Gen.G, who each triumphed in VCT 2024: Masters Madrid and VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai, respectively. Gen.G, in particular, had a strong shot at a double championship, having faced Sentinels in the final of the Madrid event. Interestingly, at this World Championship, Sentinels and Gen.G were drawn into the same group and have already competed against each other. Gen.G won that match.
Other notable contenders include Fnatic, Paper Rex, and Team Heretics, all of which have previously achieved top finishes in international tournaments.
