The International 2022 Last Chance Qualifier – viewership statistics, popular teams, and broadcast channels
All the participants of the upcoming The International 2022 have been determined in Singapore. The last two slots at the Dota 2 World Championship went to two European teams: Team Secret and Team Liquid. The Esports Charts team provides a summary of the Last Chance Qualifier and talks about the most popular teams and broadcast channels of the event.
On the last game day, four remaining teams were competing for two slots in the group stage of The International. In the first match, Team Secret scored a smooth victory over Virtus.pro (2:0) and thus entered the main stage of the event. This made the team captain Clement Puppey Ivanov the only esports athlete in the world who did not miss a single championship of the series.
Team Liquid showed perseverance in the lower bracket and, after its first lost map, managed to twice triumph over the Chinese team Vici Gaming. In the decisive match of the qualifiers, the European team scored a victory against VP on both maps and became the last entrant to the TI main stage. Stunningly, a total of six European teams will take part in the championship, which is more than any other region has. VP, on the other hand, missed yet another opportunity to enter TI and for the first time since 2016 will miss the discipline’s main championship.

Throughout the five game days, broadcasts of matches lasted over 53 hours and amassed 15.5M Hours Watched. Last Chance Qualifier gathered more than 290K Average Viewers and also reached the mark of 562K Peak Viewers on the final day of the group stage when four matches were played simultaneously.
The most popular match of the event was the decisive game between Team Liquid and Virtus.pro, which was watched by more than 443K Peak Viewers. Note that the top 5 included three matches of VP (versus Liquid, T1, and Vici Gaming). In total, eight matches of the tournament overcame the mark of 300K Peak Viewers.

The most popular team of the tournament by Average Viewers was Virtus.pro, whose matches were regularly watched by more than 184K AV. Coming second with a score of 177K Average Viewers was T1, a team from Southeast Asia, which featured former OG stars Anathan ana Pham and Topias Topson Taavitsainen.
The rest of the teams attracted much fewer viewers than VP and T1 (they are behind by more than 30K Average Viewers). The top 5 included Team Liquid, Vici Gaming, and Natus Vincere.

The official English-language PGL stream on Twitch became the absolute leader among the broadcast channels by key metrics: 152K Peak Viewers and 3.3M Hours Watched. At the same time, the second most popular channel was that of the Russian-speaking former esports athlete and community caster Alexander Nix Levin, who attracted more than 106K Peak Viewers, and generated a total of 1.8M Hours Watched during the tournament.
As usual, English and Russian became the most popular broadcast languages, accounting for 42.7% and 35.3% of the event’s total Hours Watched, respectively. At the same time, the Russian-language streams slightly outpaced the English-language ones by Peak Viewers (234K versus 233K viewers).
Twitch became the absolute leader among the broadcast platforms, accounting for 75% of the event’s total Hours Watched. Coming second was YouTube, which was significantly behind and accounted for only 16% of the total.

Top 5 Dota 2 tournaments by Peak Viewers in 2022 before the start of The International
The International 2022 LCQ currently ranks third among all tournaments of the discipline held in 2022 by Peak Viewers. It should be reminded that the event’s Peak Viewers mark was reached during four concurrently running matches. However, LCQ would have entered the top 3 even if we took into account only the most popular match of the competition.
PGL Arlington Major 2022 still holds the lead both by Peak Viewers and Hours Watched. However, The International 2022 will overtake it very soon: final event of the season will start on October 15th.
Esports Charts will be collecting The International 2022 viewership statistics live. You can follow the progress of the matches and the audience indicators of the event on the tournament page.
