The LEC partnered with streaming service AfreecaTV, to broadcast the 2022 Summer Split playoffs.
LEC is one of the most watched League of Legends professional leagues in the world. While the LCS hasn't been seeing good days in terms of viewership, the LEC has continued to grow at a fast pace.
With new and innovative desk segments, casters, and analysts with great personalities, that make it fun to tune in and watch the games, it's no surprise the league has been able to challenge the expectations and continue to grow.
This partnership with AfreecaTV, the biggest streaming platform in South Korea and one of the biggest platforms streaming in the world, will help the LEC reach even more fans, who previously didn't have access to the league in their native tongue.
The deal between the LEC and AfreecaTV will allow South Korean fans to watch the 2022 Summer Split playoffs in their native tongue, but AfreecaTV will also stream the matches in English.

With this partnership, fans will be able to watch the six best teams in Europe as they battle each other until only one is left. It will also allow South Korean fans to get more familiarized with the best players in Europe, the organizations, and also the unique playstyle of each team.
For the LEC it's a great business opportunity. They will be able to broadcast their league to the country that consumes the most League of Legends content in the world. Gaining some new fans, and continuing their already impressive growth.
LEC commissioner Artem Bykov said the following:
We are pleased to partner with AfreecaTV for our Summer Playoffs this season. We know our beloved fans in Korea enjoy the LEC and so we’re happy that we can offer them the opportunity to watch the Playoffs in Korean. We look forward to seeing fans across the globe connect and tune in to watch our top teams compete for a spot at Worlds.
