LPL Summer 2022, which featured 17 top teams in China competing for a prize pool of ¥4.2 million ($613,500) and a slot in the upcoming Worlds 2022, ended on the first day of fall. In a new Esports Charts article, we'll tell you about the end of the event and the size of the audience it attracted.

Tournament Results

In the Grand final of LPL Summer 2022, JD Gaming encountered Top Esports. The teams played at the same level throughout the tournament, so it was impossible to determine a clear favorite of the Split. JDG and TES finished the group stage having the same statistics of 14 wins and 2 losses. Then the teams met in the final of the playoffs upper bracket where JD Gaming made a comeback and won its opponent 0-2. The title match also ended 3-2 for JDG, but the teams won maps in turns.

Thus, both LPL Summer 2022 finalists earned a slot each in the Worlds 2022 group stage. JD Gaming earned it by winning Summer Split, while Top Esports scored enough points over the season and finished second in LPL Spring 2022 and LPL Summer 2022. Royal Never Give Up, the Spring Split and MSI 2022 champion, may miss the main LoL tournament of the year due to its poor performance in LPL Summer 2022 (5th-6th place). To qualify for Play-In Worlds 2022, the team must make it into the Top 2 of LPL Regional Finals 2022.
