OpTic Gaming to face DRX in semifinals — Masters Reykjavík Playoffs Day 2 overview

Yesterday, VCT 2022: Stage 1 Masters Reykjavík Playoffs Day 2 matches came to an end. And now is the right time to sum them up. In a new Esports Charts article, we will tell you about the results and viewership statistics of the upper bracket quarterfinals: Paper Rex vs. DRX and The Guard vs. OpTic Gaming (ex-Team Envy).

The first match of the day was the game between the Singapore team Paper Rex and the Korean team DRX. Both of them made it to the tournament by taking first places in Challengers events in their respective regions. Paper Rex went straight to the playoffs, while DRX had to fight its way through the group stage.

In the face-to-face encounter, DRX won with a score of 2:1. The team lost the map Haven (10:13), but was stronger on Bind (13:8) and Ascent (13:8). The match attracted more than 382K Peak Viewers, thus became the most popular match of the second day of the playoffs.

The Guard vs. OpTic Gaming was the last upper bracket match in the quarterfinals. The teams took first and second place in North America Challengers, respectively. The Guard dominated in the qualifiers, but OpTic Gaming won the playoffs 2-1 (13:7 on Icebox; 7:13 on Haven; 13:11 on Fracture). The clash between the teams was watched by over 332K Peak Viewers.

Masters Reykjavík Playoffs Day 2 matches accumulated 2.25 million Hours Watched. English-speaking viewers on Twitch made up the most of the audience. The second most popular language was Japanese.

It should be noted that the matches of the event were covered not only on the official broadcasts, but also by the streaming community-casters. The English Valorant channel on Twitch drew the most Peak Viewers (74.5K PV). Channels tenztarikfps_shaka and averagejonas also made it to the Top 5 by this metric.

In the upper bracket of the semifinals, G2 Esports faces LOUD, and OpTic Gaming plays with DRX. These matches take place on April 17, but today there will be matches of the lower bracket’s first stage, where ZETA DIVISION encounters Team Liquid, and Paper Rex meets The Guard. The losing teams will drop out of the tournament, placing 7th-8th.
