The evening of March 20 marked the end of the Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac event in Hearthstone discipline. More than 400 players from all over the world competed in the championship for a share of the $250K prize pool, as well as for the title of the tournament champion. In the new article, Esports Charts provides an overview of the second tournament of the series in 2022, as well as describes its viewer count.

Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac was held in the usual for the series "Conquest" format (up to three wins) with the possibility of banning classes, where each participant could use only four decks prepared for the tournament in advance.

For watching Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac matches, anyone could be awarded up to two Fractured in Alterac Valley card packs. To earn the first deck of cards, the viewer had to spend two hours on the official YouTube broadcast. The second pack of cards could be obtained after spending another two hours on the broadcast.

Frenchman Gabriel Gaby Jeanne became the champion of the Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac, which is his first title in 2022. He was awarded $14K and a slot at the Masters Summer Championship 2022. Also, the top 32 players of the tournament were invited to the Masters Tour 2022 Voyage to the Sunken City, which will be held April 22-24.

Viewership statistics of the tournament

In total, the Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac generated more than 232K Hours Watched on broadcasts. The online event gathered almost 9.2K Average Viewers and 11.8K Peak Viewers. It is noteworthy that the most popular matchup of the event was the meeting between Gaby and Kiparang in the quarterfinals of the tournament, and the grand final between Gaby and Hachikuji did not even make it into the top 5 matches of the Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac in terms of Peak Viewers. It should be reminded that Hearthstone esports matches are broadcast exclusively on YouTube.

The championship was covered in five languages, with English broadcasts being responsible for almost 70% of the event's Hours Watched. This result was achieved because Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac matches were broadcast both on the official HS Esports YouTube channel and on the main Hearthstone channel. Also found in the top 3 are Korean and Portuguese.

Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac showed average viewer activity. On a positive note, the championship outperformed the February Masters Tour 2022 Onyxia's Lair, the least-watched tournament in the series. Also, the Masters Tour 2022 Ruins of Alterac turned out to be more successful than many previous tournaments in the series both in terms of Average and Peak Viewers, and in terms of Hours Watched, but it failed to become a leader in at least one of the indicators.

Tournaments using the classic Heartstone mode no longer make the players and viewers as excited as before. But very soon, from April 2 to April 3, Lobby Legends: Raid Leaders will take place: the first championship of the official ecosystem of tournaments in the Battlegrounds mode, which is very popular across the community. Potentially, the tournament can gather several tens of thousands of viewers, as it will be broadcast not only on YouTube, but also on Twitch.
