MPL Malaysia Season 15 breaks group stage viewership records with almost half-a-million Peak Viewers

MPL Malaysia Season 15 is in full swing and still far from over, but the regional league is already smashing some of its viewership records. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang fans were especially active during Week 4, helping the Malaysian league hit all-time highs for both Hours Watched and Peak Viewers during the group stage. Check out the full breakdown in the latest report from Esports Charts.

Week 4 of the MPL Malaysia Season 15 group stage racked up over 1.91 million Hours Watched. This is the highest weekly viewership ever for this stage across all MPL Malaysia seasons. For comparison, weekly match viewership usually hovers around 1 million HW, but this time it nearly doubled that mark.

MPL Malaysia Season 15 hit another major milestone by setting a new peak viewership record for a group stage match. The Week 4 showdown between SRG.OG and AERO drew 497,877 concurrent viewers — the highest peak ever recorded in the league’s group stage history. The previous record of 262,061 was set during Week 4 of Season 14, meaning this new high marks a staggering 90% increase.

One standout trend is the surge in viewership on TikTok; peak concurrent viewers on the platform jumped by 111% compared to Week 4 of MPL MY Season 14. YouTube also showed steady growth. Notably, English-language broadcasts saw a significant rise in viewership during the group stage, which is uncommon since English-speaking fans usually tune in only for the playoffs.

What made the SRG.OG vs. AERO match such a major draw? For starters, it was a high-stakes showdown between two of the top teams in the group stage, currently ranked second and third, just behind HomeBois. On top of that, the series was packed with intensity, with the final game stretching over 28 minutes — a lengthy battle by Mobile Legends: Bang Bang standards. So far, it stands as the longest match of MPL Malaysia Season 15.

English-language viewership for MPL Malaysia Season 15 has seen a modest uptick. One key factor is the recent partnership between Selangor Red Giants (SRG) and European esports powerhouse OG, announced ahead of the current season. The collaboration has sparked growing interest in the Malaysian league among European audiences.

MPL Malaysia Season 15 has already outperformed the final peak viewership numbers of Seasons 10 and Season 11 — and it might surpass even more seasons before the playoffs begin. Currently, Season 14 holds the record for the most-watched season, peaking at 870,049 concurrent viewers. That’s an impressive milestone, but Season 15 is shaping up to be a serious contender to break that record too.

The group stage of MPL Malaysia Season 15 will continue until May 25, with the top six teams advancing to the playoff bracket. As a reminder, the two best teams of the season will secure spots at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025, set to take place this summer in Riyadh.
