MPL Malaysia Season 15 set two new viewership records but showed minimal audience growth compared to previous seasons
MPL Malaysia Season 15 serves as a compelling case study for evaluating tournament viewership. While the league fell short in terms of Peak Viewers, it broke records for total Hours Watched and Average Viewers per match. It's a strong reminder that measuring the success of an esports event requires a well-rounded analysis across various metrics.
When it comes to results, MPL Malaysia Season 15 didn’t offer many surprises. SRG.OG dominated the group stage with an overwhelming 18:1 map record. The playoffs saw slightly more resistance, but SRG.OG stayed in control — cruising past AERO Esports and defeating HomeBois twice, first in the upper bracket final and then again in the grand final. In the championship match, SRG.OG delivered a clean 4:0 sweep. The last time fans saw such a one-sided grand final was back in Season 11, when TODAK shut out Team SMG.
John ‘’Innocent’’ Banal was recognized as the MVP of both the finals and the entire season. The Selangor Red Giants secured their third straight regional league title — but for the first time, they did it in partnership with OG Esports, following the global collaboration the two organizations announced in March 2025.
MPL Malaysia Season 15 Viewership Statistics

MPL Malaysia Season 15 peaked at 497,877 concurrent viewers, with the most-popular match being the group stage showdown between SRG.OG and AERO Esports. That series was notable as the only time SRG.OG lost a map during the entire group stage.
The grand final between SRG.OG and HomeBois was the second most-popular match of the tournament. Overall, peak viewership for MPL Malaysia Season 15 dropped by 42.7% compared to Season 14, the record-holder in that MPL Malaysia series. The decline was largely due to the absence of cross-broadcasts on MPL Indonesia channels, which had significantly boosted viewership during the previous season.

Most popular MPL Malaysia seasons
The MPL Malaysia Season 15 generated a staggering 13.4 million HW, setting a new record with a 2.2% increase over the previous high. Average viewership per match also saw a similar bump, hitting 96,793 — another all-time high for the Malaysian league. In other words, despite a sharp drop in peak concurrent viewers, the league’s overall audience reach remained and even grew slightly. The growth this season was quite minimal. Past seasons saw increases of over 10%, but this time it was just 2%. The league may have reached its audience ceiling, meaning we might not see new viewership records anytime soon.

Most watched MPL Malaysia seasons
Another notable shift in MPL Malaysia Season 15’s viewership data was TikTok surpassing YouTube for the first time in total hours watched, becoming the league’s leading streaming platform. TikTok also topped the charts in both average and peak concurrent viewership.
Interestingly, despite SRG’s partnership with European organization OG, the English-language broadcast didn’t see a boost — in fact, its viewership nearly dropped by half. Average viewership also declined on Burmese and Khmer-language streams, while Indonesian-language broadcasts experienced growth. Malaysian remained the league’s primary language, with its share of total watch hours climbing from 83% to 92% compared to the previous season.
As a reminder, the finalists of MPL Malaysia Season 15 secured the opportunity to represent their region at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025, happening in July in Riyadh as part of the Esports World Cup 2025. You can keep up with this and other EWC tournaments in the Esports Charts section.
