PUBG Nations Cup 2022 — discipline's most popular tournament in years
Last weekend, the first PUBG Battlegrounds championship between national teams since 2019 ended, PUBG Nations Cup 2022. The United Kingdom became the winner of the event, and the championship itself turned out to be the most popular in the discipline over the past two and a half years. Here are the results and viewership statistics of the competition.
PUBG Nations Cup 2022 Results
The competition was held from 16 to 19 June in Bangkok, Thailand. 16 national teams from all over the world took part in the championship. The venue for the tournament was TRUE ICON HALL ICONSIAM: only the Chinese team could not attend the tournament, the team played remotely from a LAN venue in Guangzhou. In addition, it is worth mentioning that due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the champion of the last tournament of the series, the Russian national team, was not invited to the championship.

Unexpectedly for many, the victory went to the British team, which took the penultimate place in the championship three years ago. The squad, which consists of members of FaZe Clan, Team Liquid, Heroic and XPLDZ, finished first four times and got into the top 4 seven times more, thanks to which it was 26 points ahead of the closest pursuers, the Vietnam and Brazil teams, and thus became the champion.
The competition aroused great interest among PUBG esports fans. And thanks to a large number of broadcasts in different languages and Twitch Drops, the event entered the top 5 competitions in the history of the discipline by Peak Viewers.

PUBG Nations Cup 2022 Viewership & Most Popular Channels
The championship managed to achieve high levels of viewership for two main reasons. Firstly, the competition was actively covered on many official and unofficial channels in a variety of languages. Official channels were in the top in terms of viewer interest, the competition would hardly have been able to attract such a large audience for PUBG without community casters. Secondly, interest in the tournament was also fueled by Twitch Drops: by linking KRAFTON account to Twitch, viewers automatically participated in the drawing of in-game items, which always attracts additional people to broadcasts.

Perhaps the main achievement of the PUBG Nations Cup 2022 was that it entered the top 5 tournaments in the history of the discipline by Peak Viewers. This is the most popular competition in the discipline over the past few years, and the first place has been held by the PUBG Global Invitational since 2018; this event peaked at over 759K concurrent viewers.
The PUBG esports season will continue in July. In the next two months, qualifications for PUBG Continental Series 7 will take place, and in September there will be matches in four regional divisions.
