Following Asia and America, the sixth seasons of the PUBG Continental Series reached the end in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Esports Charts tells about the teams that turned out to be the strongest in the first half of the 2022 PUBG esports season, as well as the changes to the viewership indicators in different divisions.

Tournament results

Traditionally, the winners of the qualifiers became the participants of the competition. Qualifiers for the new PCS season were held from February to early April, and the final stages of the competition took place in April-May. It should be reminded that in Europe, half of the participating teams are the partners of the league and so received direct invites to PCS. In addition, due to the war in Ukraine, Virtus.pro was not allowed to participate in the tournament, so the team had to use the neutral tag Northern Lights Team.

All regions had their own peculiarities. In Europe, the victory went to the Serbo-Croatian roster of Entropiq, which qualified for the tournament. The team had an outstanding first week, scoring 174 points: among all the events, only the champions of the Asia-Pacific region Daytrade Gaming were able to score more in one week: 183 points.

PUBG Continental Series 6 Highlights

Entropiq's victory also stands out as this was the only team in the Europe’s top 8 that doesn't have the league partner status. The second best result among the teams from the qualifiers was shown by SKADE, which placed 9th.

The Chinese team Petrichor Road became the champion of Asia, where teams from China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan have competed. The team defended the champion’s title in the region: PR also won the league's fifth season, which ended in October last year.

The Thai Daytrade Gaming team became the winner of the tournament in Asia-Oceania. Its name is based on one of the securities trading tactics when the purchase and sale of assets take place within a single day. This has been the first truly major victory for the team since 2018 when the organization was founded.

The champion’s title in America returned to the permanent leader: the Soniqs team, which earned the fourth title in the region. It should be reminded that in the fifth season, the team took the second spot, unexpectedly losing to the Oath Gaming team, which disbanded at the end of 2021.

PCS 6 viewership statistics

Asia-Oceania has traditionally become the most watched PCS region. Viewers spent more than 1.3M hours watching matches, which is 84% more than in Europe. It should be noted that APAC became the leader, although its matches were on the air for the least number of hours (23 hours), this was achieved due to a large number of Average Viewers: more than 57K.

In terms of another key metric, Peak Viewers, the first spot went to the tournament for Asia-Pacific as well. The third round of matches during day 1 week 1 in the region gathered over 103.9K Peak Viewers.

Note that in comparison with the fifth series of PCS, the statistics of the sixth season have changed a lot in different regions. So, although Asia-Oceania is still the leader among all tournaments in terms of total Hours Watched & Peak Viewers, this season the overall figures have become noticeably lower. All key indicators of the tournament (HW, PV, and AV) decreased by 25-43%. Similarly, the audience showed less interest in the Asian tournament, where the main indicators dropped by 17-27%.

At the same time, tournament statistics for Europe and America have increased significantly. Peak Viewers of PCS Europe showed especially strong growth: the event grew by almost 94% in terms of Peak Viewers metric. Its Average Viewers also grew (up 28%) which led to an increase in the total Hours Watched (up 9%). America showed even more convincing statistics compared to the fifth season: for example, the Average Viewers of the event grew by 60%, while the Peak Viewers grew by 49%.

The high viewership activity indicators in Europe and America are largely associated with community casting, given that the largest audience among unofficial streams during the 6th iteration of PCS was gathered by creators from these regions. The streamers from Turkey and Russia, as well as several creators from Thailand, became the leaders.

Turkish streamers abeautifuldeath and wtcn, became the leaders in terms of total Hours Watched and Peak Viewers, respectively. Boyminoru and pokamolodoy also made it into the top 5 by both metrics.

The next stage in the PUBG esports season will be the PUBG Nations Cup, which will take place for the first time since 2019: the tournament will take place in mid-June. Note that the Russian team (the current champion of the tournament) was not allowed to participate in the competition.
