Six Sweden Major 2021 ended last weekend in Jevle, Sweden. It was the second Rainbow Six Siege major of the year. As at Six Invitational 2021 and Mexico Major, the team from Brazil won the championship again — the winner was FaZe Clan. Let's take a look at the results of the event, name the most popular teams, and compare the Swedish tournament with the previous events in the series. 

Six Sweden Major 2021 viewership statistics

The tournament took place from November 6 to 14 and was on air for 64 hours — during that time it generated more than 4 million Hours Watched. More than 64K Average Viewers watched the matches, and the Peak Viewers number was reached in the final, where two teams from Brazil competed — the match between FaZe and Ninjas in Pyjamas was watched by up to 100.8K Peak Viewers.

The main platform for broadcasting was Twitch, which accounted for almost 88% of the total Hours Watched. Some R6 fans also watched the matches on YouTube, which accounted for approximately 12% of the total HW.

Six Sweden Major was broadcasted in 16 languages, the most popular of which was English — the official English-language streams had almost 57% of the total Hours Watched of the event. Portuguese language took the second place, as R6 fans from Brazil generated 21% of the total HW.

Most popular teams of Six Sweden Major

FaZe Clan not only won the tournament but also became the most watched team of the event. The team accumulated more than 1.32 million Hours Watched during the championship, which is 7% more than the second finalist NiP had. Both teams also ranked first and second by Average Viewers, respectively.

Six Sweden Major semifinalists DAMWON Gaming and Rogue were in the top 5 by Hours Watched as well. The latter team was outpaced by BDS Esports, which lost in the quarterfinals.

Six Sweden Major 2021 vs other tournaments in the series

To evaluate the success of Six Sweden Major 2021 we compared it with previous tournaments in the series. One should note that in 2021 the Rainbow Six Siege majors system returned to its usual format: last year the organizers held regional tournaments due to the pandemic, so we excluded them from the compilation and compared recent event to the 2018-2019 majors. 

The Six Sweden Major had the lowest viewership statistics of all the tournaments in the series. The championship had fewer Peak Viewers than the major in August (26% decrease), and its total Hours Watched number decreased by 28% even though the event was on air almost as long as Six Mexico Major. However, the biggest drop was in the Average Viewers: compared with Six Mexico Major, the Average Viewers number at the matches decreased by 36% — previously the championships of the series regularly had at least 85K people on the broadcasts. 

It should be noted that the decrease of the viewership activity was mainly due to the fact that some popular teams (for example, Team Empire and Team Vitality) didn't pass the group stage at Six Sweden Major. In addition, two Brazilian teams played in the final — this match was of primary interest to the Portuguese-speaking audience. The third factor is that many teams with a large fanbase, such as Team Liquid and G2 Esports, didn’t qualify for the Sweden Major. 

We should remind you that the most popular event of the discipline is still the Six Major Raleigh 2019, with an Average Viewers number exceeding 100K spectators, and at its peak the event was watched by over 268K people.
