T1 eliminated G2 Esports from MSI 2024, with their second matchup drawing a 2.27M Peak Viewers
The Korean team T1 defeated G2 Esports for the second time, eliminating the last representative of the LEC from the Mid-Season Invitational 2024. To secure a place in the grand finals, Faker's squad will face the Chinese club Bilibili Gaming, who have previously beaten T1 in the upper bracket of the playoffs.
The first encounter between T1 and G2 at MSI 2024 occurred in the Bracket Stage's first round. The teams played an exciting five-game series, which ended with a hard-fought 3-2 victory for T1. This match attracted nearly 2.5 million peak viewers, setting a new concurrent viewership record for the series.
Many eagerly anticipated a fierce battle in the rematch, but T1 finished the series in just three maps. However, it wasn't a complete walkover for G2: the team started strong and took the initiative on each map, but they couldn't maintain the lead, and T1 closed each game in their favor. The Korean team constantly lured their opponents into mass fights near Baron Nashor, causing G2 players to make positioning mistakes, which T1 capitalized on, turning the tide of the matches.

The second match between T1 and G2 drew 2.27 million Peak Viewers, falling short of the viewership for their previous encounter. This is slightly less than the peak viewership for the grand finals of the Mid-Season Invitational 2023, where the most popular match, between T1 and JD Gaming in the winners' final, attracted just over 2.29 million concurrent viewers.
MSI 2024 has two matches remaining: on May 18, T1 will play against Bilibili Gaming, and on May 19, the winner will face Gen.G in the grand finals. You can follow the championship's progress on the live report page.
