So, welcome to our Team of the Month segment, which discusses the most popular esports organization by Hours Watched (HW) in the month gone by. And it's fitting that this side, T1, becomes the first org to take the trophy in this new monthly series of rankings articles. The South Korean powerhouse played in three tournaments in July 2025, including two international championships, to finish with 44.17M HW. It started the month by continuing its quest to win a first Mid-Season Invitational title since 2017, which was part of a period when it dominated the global scene under the SK Telecom T1 moniker. However, T1 fell short at the final hurdle, defeated by regional rival Gen.G. In the process, the latter emulated the reigning world champion and Royal Never Give Up by becoming just the third side to go back-to-back at the mid-season global tournament. How T1 became the most-watched team of the month T1's lengthy run at the MSI 2025, which included some lengthy matches that ended in a 3:2 scoreline, including the Grand Final, did help it accumulate 35.5 million HW. It also helped the event break several series records, including its most popular match ever against Gen.G. The two heavyweights, who have fostered a pretty intense rivalry based on regional bragging rights and the drive to be the best side in the world, battled for over two and a half hours. With such high-quality action unfolding, Korean viewers came out in droves to watch the Grand Final, which helped it achieve a peak of 3,448,373 viewers. In fact, Korean viewership played a major part in the event attaining such good numbers. While this audience's peak increased by over 31% for the summit clash, it also grew on some new livestreaming platforms in 2025. Apart from YouTube Live, which is the most preferred service for Koreans, Naver’s CHZZK got a big boost and shot up the rankings to become the third-most-popular platform for the tournament's viewership. The Esports World Cup 2025 for League of Legends was a more compact exercise than the MSI 2025, lasting just five days despite featuring more teams. T1 played just three matches, having earned a direct invite into the Playoffs as the defending champion. However, a 2:1 loss to the rising Chinese side, Anyone's Legend, in the Semifinal denied it a chance to add to its glittering trophy haul. The EWC 2025 x LoL's final match became the first EWC 2025 game to receive over a million PV and exceeded the peak viewership of last year’s finals, which featured T1. Interestingly, T1 was only the fourth most-watched side at this event, notching 3.7M HW, while it also ended outside the top two for the top teams by average online viewership. This also affected the number of Average Viewers at the EWC 2025, which was less than the inaugural edition. In 2024, this metric spiked due to the passionate support for T1 from across the globe as it claimed the trophy. This year, the format was more comprehensive – featuring a Group Stage and four more teams – but with the five-time world champion getting knocked out in the Semifinal, no team reached 700,000 AV. Last year, two sides did so, with finalist Top Esports Gaming getting the T1 rub to be part of the duo that touched this milestone. T1 did finish third after winning the third-place match against G2 Esports, marking consecutive podium finishes at international championships. This also helped the roster pocket $230,000, which, when added to the $300,000 it earned at the MSI 2025, made it a pretty lucrative month. The team played three matches during the last week of the month, winning all three, including a 2:1 win over Gen.G that ended its winning streak at 28 series. It remains the most-watched and most popular side at this domestic event, which has adopted a singular domestic season for 2025. The LCK 2025 Season will run until September 28, and while it's sure to break the series record for watch time thanks to the almost year-long schedule, T1 will remain crucial to breaking any peak concurrent viewership milestones. Currently third on the Rounds 3-5 table, T1 will look to build on the good (re)start to advance directly to the Playoffs Round 2 by finishing in the top two, which will give it the best chance of clinching its first regional league since the LCK Spring 2022 season.
