PUBG Mobile is a popular battle royale in Asia and India that attracts millions of viewers. In 2021, the game broke its all-time Peak Viewers record. In the new article, Esports Charts will tell you which PUBG Mobile events became the most popular in the discipline in 2021.

Disclaimer: the top tournaments were compiled according to the Peak Viewership of the events of 2021. Statistics from Chinese platforms were excluded due to their unreliability.

The most popular event in PUBG Mobile was Global Championship Season 0 with 3.8M Peak Viewers, which is a record in the history of the discipline. The tournament brought together the best teams from all over the world, which attracted a huge number of people. The growth of the audience was achieved not in the least because of the gift-per-view feature.

The second spot is occupied by the regional PMPL league (Season 3) for Southeast Asia, which attracted 1.1M Peak Viewers. Many international tournaments in other disciplines, for example, CS:GO majors or regional League of Legends leagues, fail to attract this many people on streams.

Unusual formats also had their place, with the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2021 East being an example of this. It was a charity event with a prize fund of $3.1M hosted by Gamers Without Borders. The prize money received by the teams was donated to various worldwide charitable foundations. The competition was watched by 1M Peak Viewers.

PMPL's fourth season for Southeast Asia attracted 682K Peak Viewers. However, this figure still surpassed some of the classic PC disciplines. The PMPL in Indonesia is also on the list with 631K Peak Viewers in the third season.

The reason for the popularity of regional leagues lies primarily in the huge number of well-known teams and the ease of viewing due to a large number of broadcasts. Note that Indonesia is the discipline’s #1 region hence the majority of viewers are from there. Yet the game is still quite popular in other Asian countries.

2021 has been a success for PUBG Mobile. The discipline continues to host a huge number of regional competitions for pro players, amateurs, and students alike. The game also launched PUBG: New State, another mobile battle royale with a focus on a futuristic setting. It is possible that in 2022 the competitions will be held not only in PUBG M but also in the new version.
