The recent M7 World Championship was a landmark event for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and mobile esports, as it broke a slew of records to enter the history books. A large part of this success was down to the participants and the various stories surrounding these teams.

Be it Alter Ego's breakthrough displays or the continuous efforts of Selangor Red Giants to showcase Malaysia's rise on a global stage or Aurora Gaming PH's championship-winning run keeping the world title in the Philippines, there was a lot for fans to digest and follow. Naturally, many of these sides finished as the most popular among viewers, and Esports Charts has ranked the top five participants by watch time and peak concurrent viewership.

The top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team by watch time at this coveted tournament was Alter Ego, with 52.68 million Hours Watched (HW). The Indonesian side played the most matches in the event at nine and was the only name to rack up over 20 hours in airtime. It made these games count, reaching the world championship final for the first time and falling just short of winning a historic title and bringing the crown back to its homeland.

Next comes the newest MLBB world champion, Aurora Gaming PH, which accumulated 31.97 million HW at the latest MLBB World Championship. It played the joint-second most games of any participant with eight, losing only one match en route to lifting its maiden world title. That the Serbian esports organization, which entered the MLBB esports scene in 2024 with a Filipino roster, clinched its first trophy at the M series will make this win all the more special.

Rounding off the podium is Selangor Red Giants, the reigning four-time MPL Malaysia champion. The side, on the up in recent years at international championships and even clinching the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024 at that year's Esports World Cup, was pegged as one of the favorites to win the M7 crown. And it didn't disappoint fans, ending third for a second straight year, which is the joint-best finish by a Malaysian side at the MLBB World Championship, to accrue 31.43 million HW.

Team Liquid PH is fourth with 29.14 million HW, put together over eight matches, as it ended in the fourth position. Indonesian powerhouse ONIC Esports, arguably the undisputed favorite to win the crown, came in fifth with 23.61 million HW. The reigning two-time MPL Indonesia champion yet again struggled to replicate its domestic dominance on the most prominent global stage, finishing in the 7th to 8th bracket.

The two Indonesian sides, Alter Ego and ONIC Esports, were unsurprisingly the most followed by average viewership. They were the only entries to surpass 2 million Average Viewers (AV) as fans threw their full weight behind the duo, hoping to see the world title come back home for the first time since the inaugural edition.

That ONIC Esports, perhaps the most dominant recent domestic side in MLBB, received this much support despite not meeting expectations and exiting early shows just how popular it is among fans back home. ONIC's loss was Alter Ego's gain, as the relatively unheralded side enjoyed the full vocal support of Indonesian viewers, almost going all the way.

The two teams from the Philippines, Aurora Gaming PH and Team Liquid PH, took the third and fifth spots. While the archipelagic country in Southeast Asia comes in second to Indonesia in terms of livestreaming viewership, it continues to be the most successful at the M Series, having won the last six editions.

Last but not least is Selangor Red Giants, carrying the flag for not only Malaysian MLBB but its esports segment in general, with 1.79 million AV. It has emerged as one of the Southeast Asian nations' most reliable and consistent competitive sides in recent years, and such continued improvement will undoubtedly be rewarded with a top-two place at the MLBB World Championship sooner rather than later.
