Many more viewers than in the spring, yet still few — VCS Summer 2022 results
Last weekend saw the end of several LoL summer splits, including VCS Summer 2022. In a new article Esports Charts tells about the results and viewership statistics of the Vietnamese league, as well as the most popular teams of the tournament.
Tournament Results
GAM Esports and Saigon Buffalo, finalists of the spring split, clashed in the Grand final of VCS Summer 2022. GAM lost to SGB with a score of 3-2 in the playoff upper bracket final, but the team won the title match with a solid 3-0 victory. It should be noted that the champion of VCS Spring 2022 was also GAM Esports, and Team Secret again became the bronze medalist of the league.

According to Vietnamese league rules, both VCS Summer 2022 finalists got a slot in Worlds 2022, with Saigon Buffalo starting from the play-in and GAM from the group stage of the tournament.
VCS Summer 2022 Viewership Statistics
The broadcasts of the tournament totaled nearly 6.4 million Hours Watched and 39K Average Viewers. VCS Summer 2022 saw the Peak Viewers number of 177K people reached during the semifinals of the upper bracket between GAM Esports and Saigon Buffalo. Interestingly, the Grand final with the same teams drew 17.5% fewer Peak Viewers.

The most popular and most watched team of the tournament is GAM. Its games, watched by 57K Average Viewers, accounted for nearly 40% of VCS Summer 2022's total Hours Watched. Saigon Buffalo, SBTC Esports, Team Secret and CERBERUS Esports are next by Average Viewers number.

VCS Summer 2022 proved to be more successful than Spring Split by all key metrics. The event's Peak Viewers number was 67% higher, the Average Viewers number was almost twice as high, and the Hours Watched number was 90% higher.

However, VCS Summer 2022 took only eighth place in the Top of tournaments in the history of the Vietnamese league. It lagged behind the leader, VCS Spring 2020, by more than 88% of Average Viewers.
