Worlds 2022 Playoffs Day 2: T1 eliminates RNG, setting a new record for Peak Viewers of the tournament

T1 and Royal Never Give Up faced off on Day 2 of the LoL World Championship playoffs. This match outpaced the first quarterfinals by every viewership metric, and also topped the tournament in terms of Peak Viewers. Esports Charts sums up the Worlds 2022 Second Quarterfinal in a new article.

Royal Never Give Up made it through two Play-Ins and the Worlds 2022 Group Stage, but its encounter with T1 in the Quarterfinals ultimately knocked the Chinese team out of contention for the title. T1 won all three maps and advanced to the Semifinals, where it will face JD Gaming on October 30. RNG earned just over $100K and took 5-8th place, the same as it did last year.

The T1 vs. RNG match totaled a little fewer than 4.3 million Hours Watched and drew 1.1 million Average Viewers. Its Peak Viewers number was over 1.6 million, the highest result in the tournament. The second quarterfinal saw a 59% increase in PV, a 50% increase in AV, and a 65% increase in HW compared to the results of the First Quarterfinal between JD Gaming and Rogue. However, the tournament's overall viewership statistics are still well below those of the Worlds 2021 similar stage.

The most popular broadcasts of the Worlds 2022 Second Quarterfinal are English and Korean, accounting for 41% and 17% of the match's HW total, respectively. At the same time, English-language Riot Games (Twitch) and LoL Esports (YouTube) channels are still in the Top, contributing 29.4% and 12% to the T1 vs. RNG match's HW total, respectively. We should also note that the Twitch broadcasts contribute more than three times as many HW to the tournament as the YouTube streams.
