APAC North surpasses Americas in viewership as ALGS 2025 nears Midseason Playoffs

Jun 20, 2025 2 min read

The Apex Legends esports season has officially hit its halfway mark. Last weekend saw the end of the ALGS: 2025 Split 1 Pro League regular season across all four regions. While EMEA and the Americas delivered surprisingly consistent results, the biggest shift came in viewership: APAC North outpaced the Americas: an unexpected twist, given that the American region typically leads in Pro League audience numbers.

The regional splits kicked off in April, featuring 30 teams per region and prize pools of $125,000 each. After two months of high-level competition, the top contenders lived up to expectations: Alliance took the crown in EMEA, while Team Falcons dominated the Americas. Notably, these two squads also secured first and second place, respectively, at the season’s first international event, the ALGS: 2025 Open held in May.

In APAC South, a region known for its ever-changing champions, it was the Chinese squad VK Gaming that claimed the top spot this time. Over in APAC North, typically ruled by Fnatic, the title went to Japan’s SBI e-Sports, who broke the trend with a standout performance.

As a result of the regional competitions, each region will send eight teams to the upcoming Midseason Playoffs, while the combined Americas will contribute 16 squads. With nearly all of the fan-favorite teams making it through, the stage is set for a high-stakes showdown that’s likely to pull strong viewership across the board.

Altogether, the Pro League racked up nearly 5.5 million Hours Watched, with APAC North leading the way, thanks largely to Japan’s consistently passionate fanbase. The Americas region underperformed by its usual standards, falling short in both Hours Watched and Peak Viewers. EMEA once again secured a third-place finish, while APAC South continues to trail well behind the top regions in terms of live audience engagement.

Next up on the ALGS calendar: the 2025 Midseason Playoffs. The tournament kicks off on July 10 and will be held as part of the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The previous event in the series peaked at 219,800 concurrent viewers, and all signs point to this edition having a strong shot at breaking that milestone.
