The first day of BLAST R6 Major Atlanta 2023 gathered 23% more Peak Viewers than Copenhagen Major

On October 31, BLAST R6 Major Atlanta 2023, the last major tournament of the year for Rainbow Six Siege, started in the United States. The teams have only played the Play-In stage so far, and so far the Major has shown a better audience reach than the previous tournament in Copenhagen.

16 teams competed in the Play-In stage of BLAST R6 Major Atlanta 2023, including participants from regional leagues and winners of Last Chance qualifiers. Geekay Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, LOS, Bleed, G2 Esports, DarkZero, Spacestation Gaming, and Wolves Esports advanced to the Playoff stage; they will now play in the common bracket with a Swiss system against the invitees. Only eight teams out of 16 will advance to the final single-elimination bracket.

Big growth of all metrics

The first day of BLAST R6 Major Atlanta 2023 surpassed the first day of BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen 2023 in all major viewership metrics. First and foremost, it is worth noting the increase in Average Viewers and Peak Viewers, which grew by 15% and 23%, respectively. The opening day in Atlanta also lasted two hours longer, resulting in a 41% growth in Hours Watched.  

One of the key factors contributing to the growth of this current major is the increase in the number of streaming channels. The Play-In stage of BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen 2023 was covered by 49 channels, while the Play-In matches of the BLAST R6 Major Atlanta 2023 were streamed across 94 channels. In terms of broadcast language, the proportion of Portuguese language coverage decreased compared to the previous major. At the same time, the share of English coverage increased by approximately the same proportion.

When comparing the Play-In stages of the two tournaments, BLAST R6 Major Atlanta 2023 has already surpassed the Danish Major in terms of Average and Peak Viewers by 20% and 23%, respectively. At the same time, the Play-In matches of BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen 2023 generated more Hours Watched thanks to a longer broadcast time (almost 13 hours more).
