Brawlhalla is a free-to-play fighting game by Blue Mammoth Games released in 2017. The game can't be ranked among the top esports disciplines, but it has enough fans among gamers in North America and Europe. The esports scene of Brawlhalla is known for its small regional leagues and open tournaments for everyone. For example, any player could become a Brawlhalla World Championship 2022 participant — all you had to do was to come to the venue and pay a membership fee of $50. 

There were 679 participants in the tournament in Atlanta. Most of them competed in the singles competition (603 players), but the registration also gave them the option to play in duo battles with a teammate (198 players).

Impala, a player from the US, unexpectedly became the champion of the singles tournament. In the final he defeated the famous British player Godly, who had won four international tournaments in Europe in 2022 alone and was considered one of the strongest players in the discipline. In the duo competition, the U.S. players Snowy and Boomie were stronger than the others. 

Viewership Statistics

All official Brawlhalla tournaments have had a system to reward viewers for several years. Using a special Twitch extension, users link their accounts and launch a progress tracker that gives them special points for every hour of viewing (1 point every minute). Then these points can be exchanged for new in-game emotes, skins for heroes and weapons, color schemes, etc. All this directly affects the popularity of tournament broadcasts.

Brawlhalla World Championship 2022 matches accumulated 1.2 million Hours Watched. The tournament saw 43K Average Viewers, while a Peak Viewers number was 56.7K people reached at the finals of the tournament for the duos. The singles final between Godly and Impala had 46.7K PV. 

English was the main language of Brawlhalla World Championship 2022 broadcasts — it accounted for 98.7% of the total HW.  As for platforms, Twitch was in the lead with 96.9% of HW. YouTube and Steam.tv accounted for just over 3%. The majority of tournament viewers watched the matches on the official brawlhalla channel on Twitch — it racked up 1.1 million HW and drew 53.3K PV.
