CBLOL 2022 Split 2, the Brazilian regional league, ended on September 3. The Esports Charts team sums up the results of the tournament, tells you about the most popular teams, as well as about the audience reach of the official broadcast.

The CBLOL 2022 Split 2 season featured 10 teams that had quotas in the franchise league. Participants played two round-robins each and had best-of-1 matches. Teams ranked one through six advanced to the playoffs bracket: FURIA Esports, RED Canids, paiN Gaming, LOUD, KaBuM! e-Sports and Miners.gg.

LOUD defeated paiN Gaming 3-0 in the final of the playoffs bracket. The team won $19K and a slot in 2022 World Championship. It was its first national league title LOUD. Interestingly, earlier in the spring split, the team took only seventh place and did not even make the playoffs.

Viewership Statistics

CBLOL 2022 Split 2 matches accumulated 14.2 million Hours Watched. The Average Viewers number at the broadcasts was 100.7K, and the Peak Viewers number reached 331.1K people. The most popular match is the season final between paiN Gaming and LOUD. The latter also became the most popular team of the tournament, as its matches totaled 5.12 million Hours Watched. It should be noted that LOUD played one more series than the other participants.

The main and almost only broadcast language of CBLOL 2022 Split 2 is Portuguese. It drew 331.2K Peak Viewers. A small number of viewers (about 600) were on the English-language broadcast. But the distribution across platforms was more even, with 172.3K Peak Viewers on YouTube and 166K Peak Viewers on Twitch.

Comparison with Other Tournaments

We compared the CBLOL 2022 Split 2 data with the league's past seasons, starting from its switch to the franchise format, to see the dynamics of the metrics.

The numbers show that 2021 Spring Split is still unbeatable by any metric. The tournament has seen the highest numbers in Hours Watched, Average and Peak Viewers. This was partially attributed to audience excitement after the league switched to the franchise format. Since that season, CBLOL audience coverage has gradually fallen.

Considering the past four seasons, CBLOL 2022 Split 2 has shown the third-highest Hours Watched and the second-highest Peak Viewers results. The latter was affected by the participation of the LOUD lineup in the finals, and it is one of the most popular esports brands not only in Brazil, but also worldwide. We should also note that the league's airtime increased significantly in 2022 — 141-145 hours vs. 114 hours in 2021. This directly affects the total number of Hours Watched.

Overall, we can say that the coverage of CBLOL changes, albeit not critically. In comparison, the metrics of LCS have halved over the past three years. The Brazilian League is doing much better, showing steady growth in Peak Viewers over the past three seasons.

Chat Analytics

The Esports Charts team also analyzed viewer chat activity during the final match between paiN Gaming and LOUD. In total, chatters wrote almost 64K messages during the match. The most active users communicated during the game on the first map.

The LOUD tag was written more times than the paiN tag — 13.3K messages vs. 11.8K. The most frequent nickname written in messages by the viewers is Wizer, the Korean paiN Gaming player on top lane — he was mentioned more than 400 times. The least mentioned nickname is tinowns, the LOUD team mid lane player.

The most popular emote during the broadcast is gabepeixeLoud (2.9K mentions). Second place goes to peepoPain (1.3K mention). The top five emotes also include NotLikeThis, POG, and mchPain.

It should be noted that the CBLOL broadcast had the highest number of Unique Viewers at the LOUD vs paiN Gaming matches. When the teams first encountered each other in the playoffs bracket on August 21, their game reached 215K Peak Viewers. In the finals, however, the Peak Viewers number grew to 331.3K, just as we've written before.LOUD will represent CBLOL in 2022 World Championship. The team received a quota for the Play-In stage, where it will fight to advance to the group stage. World Championship matches will be played from September 29 to November 5 in Mexico and the United States. The tournament finals will be hosted by the Chase Center in San Francisco.
