LFL Spring 2024 — how did the league start without Karmine Corp main roster?

Jan 19, 2024 3 min read

The first matches of the French regional tournament LFL Spring 2024 for League of Legends kicked off on January 17. The spring season brought about interesting changes in the league's lineup, and Esports Charts provides an interim review of the first week of gameplay to assess its impact on viewer interest in the competition.

At the end of 2023 the Karmine Corp, owned by the popular French streamer Kamet0, bought Astralis' slot in the LEC and moved to the top European league. At the same time, Karmine Corp’s slot in the LFL was inherited by its academy team Karmine Corp Blue. Another important change in the list of participants was the departure of Team LDLC. It was replaced by Gentle Mates, owned by another French content creator with a large fan base, Gotaga.

Karmine Corp Blue had a successful start to the spring season, securing two victories in the first two matches. Vitality.Bee, the academy of Team Vitality, achieved the same result. As for Gentle Mates, their match statistics after the first week stand at 1:1.

LFL Spring 2024 Viewership Statistics

The first week of LFL Spring 2024 generated 754.8K Hours Watched with 62.4K Average Viewers and 135.5K Peak Viewers. The most popular match during this period was the game between Team du Sud and Karmine Corp Blue.

LFL Spring 2024 started slightly weaker than the same split in the previous season. There wasn't a significant drop in viewer statistics, as Kamet0 continued to stream the league, covering Karmine Corp Blue matches. Kamet0's peak viewership during LFL Spring 2024 stands at 73K — even surpassing the start of LFL Spring 2023 when the French streamer gathered 75.2K Peak Viewers. As for Gotaga, he gathered 65.5K Peak Viewers in the first week of the spring season. Most popular matches of LFL Spring 2024 Week 1

Despite the high numbers from the two French streamers, the peak online viewership on the main channel, otplol_, dropped by approximately 18,000 viewers compared to a similar period in LFL Spring 2023. Channels Shaunz and Solary, where the French league was also covered, similarly lost some of the audience.

If Kamet0 and Gotaga continue to cover their teams' matches, the changes in LFL lineup are not expected to impact the league's audience reach significantly. One of the key matchups in the league will be the game between Karmine Corp Blue and Gentle Mates, scheduled for February 8th.
