KOI Academy vs. UCAM Esports Club: Most Popular Match of LVP Superliga Winter 2025 Opener
On January 14, the LVP Superliga Winter 2025, Spain's regional League of Legends league, officially kicked off. Five matches were played on the first day, drawing in thousands of viewers from across the Iberian Peninsula who flocked to see teams such as KOI Academy and Los Heretics despite the lack of a co-stream from one of Spain’s biggest personalities.
First, it’s important to note that Riot Games made some changes to the format for all regional leagues as part of the EMEA Masters in 2025. While last year these leagues only had two splits, Spring and Summer, starting this year, there will be three splits, including Winter. The lineup for LVP Superliga Winter 2025 hasn’t changed much from last season: Veni Vidi Vici moved up from the Promotion series, and ZETA took over the slot previously held by Rebels Gaming, which decided to leave the professional League of Legends scene.
The first day of LVP Superliga Winter 2025 peaked at 35,719 viewers — about 2.5 times fewer than the first day of Superliga Spring 2024. The most popular match of the day was between UCAM Esports Club and KOI Academy, where UCAM pulled off a hard-fought win. The match lasted 37 minutes, making it the longest of the day’s matchups.

The KOI Academy match drew more viewers than the other series, but the first day of LVP Superliga Winter 2025 still wasn’t as popular as last year’s season opener. One of the main reasons for the drop in viewership was the absence of community caster Ibai ‘’ibai’’ Llanos, co-owner of KOI. He skipped the KOI Academy match to take a short break after the conclusion of the Kings World Cup Nations 2025, a major sports event.
The viewership for the KOI match could have been even lower if not for Kuentin’s stream (KOI Content Creator), which peaked at 9,394 viewers. Kuentin didn’t cover any other matches, which is why those games saw significantly lower numbers. However, it’s not just about the missing celebrity caster — the average viewership on the official Lvpes channel also dropped by half compared to Superliga Spring 2024.
The first week of LVP Superliga Winter 2025 will run from January 15 to 17, with each team playing three matches. You can follow the tournament’s viewership stats on the Esports Charts report page.
