The Overwatch Champions Series 2026 Midseason Championship became the most-watched Overwatch tournament in EWC history. A high-profile Grand Final between ZETA DIVISION and Twisted Minds, together with strong growth across English- and Japanese-language broadcasts, helped the event reach a new viewership record.

With 245,946 Peak Viewers, the tournament ranked ninth among EWC 2026 events, ahead of PUBG: Battlegrounds and just below Valorant.

ZETA DIVISION turns regional dominance into EWC title

ZETA DIVISION arrived as Asia’s top seed after winning both OWCS Korea stages and the OWCS Asia Stage 1 Championship, establishing the team as one of the leading title contenders.

The Japanese organization then claimed its first major international OWCS title with a 4:2 victory over Twisted Minds. The Grand Final produced the tournament peak of 245,946 live viewers, while ZETA earned $400,000 from the event’s $1 million prize pool.

This made the OWCS 2026 MSC the most popular Overwatch competition at the Esports World Cup. Its watch time of 6.8 million Hours Watched also beat the combined efforts of the previous two EWC editions, as many matches were more closely fought and many of the favorites to win reached the Playoffs.

What helped reach these milestone numbers was the increased interest from Japanese- and English-language audiences. Both enjoyed substantial increases in watch time and peak concurrent viewership compared to the Overwatch Champions Series 2025 Midseason.

In terms of overall events so far at the Esports World Cup 2026, the Overwatch Champions Series 2026 Midseason Championship currently sits as the ninth most popular competition. However, among the three editions held so far at this annual tournament series, it is by far the most successful, maintaining the recent resurgence of the title after a major update earlier this year.

Before the Grand Finals, South Korea’s T1 beat China’s Weibo Gaming 3:0 in the fight for third place, jumping to the sixth spot on the overall Club Championship table. ZETA DIVISION also overtook Twisted Minds with its triumph, sitting 100 points above the latter in the eighth spot.
