The knockout stage at PGL Major Stockholm 2021 is just about to start. The first quarterfinal matches will take place on November 4, which for the first time in years will be watched by fans who will visit Avicii Arena. Esports Charts sums up the Legends Stage results and gives a forecast for the playoffs of the event.

PGL Major Stockholm Statistics

The most popular and strong teams of the discipline entered the fight at the Major at the New Legends stage. And as a result, the viewership statistics of the event increased significantly. For example, in New Challengers the average audience was 399.1K people, butin the second group stage there were 38% more viewers — the average audience grew up to 553.4K.

PGL Major Stockholm Stage Growth Statistics

Both stages were on air for a comparable time, and New Legends went for only three hours more (47.75 versus 44.3 hours), but in terms of the Hours Watched metric it was ahead of New Challengers by almost 50% — 26.4M versus 17.7M.

In total, the event has already gained 44M Hours Watched, which makes it the fifth most popular tournament in the discipline by this metric. And for now it seems like PGL Major will bypass the current leader — FACEIT Major London 2018 — which collected 61M Hours Watched.

The tournament also grew by the peak number of viewers in the New Legends. At the moment, the maximum concurrent audience of the championship is 975.4K viewers, which was reached during the matches between Natus Vincere vs Ninjas in Pyjamas / MOUZ vs ENCE. This is 46% more than was recorded in the New Challengers stage when Astralis faced Entropiq and Team Spirit played against GODSENT.

Most Watched Teams of New Legends Stage

Spectators from Brazil were especially active during the New Challengers stage, and it was the reason why GODSENT topped the ranking of teams with an average audience of 378 thousand spectators. But everything changed in the New Legends: the team would have only taken fifth place in the ranking with such statistics.

PGL Major Stockholm Most Popular Teams New Legends Stage

Natus Vincere had the largest average audience of all New Legends participants with 582.8K Average Viewers tuning in to watch the team's games. And this is not surprising, since NAVI is the most popular esports team over the past few months.

The second place was taken by Ninjas in Pyjamas, its average audience was 20% less than that of NAVI (468.5K). Note that the Swedish-Danish squad also became the second by average audience during the RMR 2021 season, when they also lost to NAVI.

As in the previous stage, FaZe Clan got into the top 5 again, taking the third place with 397.8K viewers: in the second stage, the average audience of the team grew by 75K people. The five most popular teams in terms of average audience were closed by two teams from the CIS — Virtus.pro (393K Average Viewers) and Entropiq (357K).

What to Expect from the Playoffs?

Several matches were played at the same time  almost every day in the two group stages, which helped the tournament to show convincing viewership statistics. Now the games will go one after the other. But at the same time, for the first time in a while, they will be watched live by viewers who will visit Avicii Arena.

Whether PGL Major Stockholm will set new records in the discipline depends heavily on the results of the participating teams. Natus Vincere is now not only the most popular CS:GO team in the world, but also the main contender for victory in the Major according to many analysts.

NAVI’s closest pursuer in popularity is the Ninjas in Pajamas, who have ended up on the other side of the bracket. This means that NiP and NAVI will potentially meet only in the grand final of the championship, and this will be a serious reason to believe in a new viewership record in the discipline.
