Vietnamese audience pushes PUBG Global Series 2024 Phase 3 into top five most popular events of the game
The PUBG Global Series 2024 Phase 3 was held from May 20 to 26, bringing together some of the world's best sides. It was by far the most successful event in the discipline held this year and one of the five most popular entries of all time, the reasons for which we will discuss below.
After a week of battle royale action, CERBERUS Esports topped the Grand Finals leaderboard to emerge as the champion. The Vietnamese side's consistency was the key to this win, with its final gap of 21 points to the runner-up sealing its dominant run and making it the first side from the APAC region to win a global PUBG tournament.
With this triumph, it was able to claim the prize money of $100,000 out of a total purse of $300,000 and 300 Combined PGS Points that will be crucial to its chances of qualifying directly for the season-ending PUBG Global Championship 2024. The second-placed team, Soniqs, meanwhile, became richer by $40,000 and also racked up 180 PGS Points.

The PUBG Global Series 2024 Phase 3 reached 281.8K Peak Viewers during Round 5 of the Grand Finals on Day 1. This was when CERBERUS Esports notched its first win of the Grand Finals, although it would only add one more to this tally.
The most number of wins for any team in the final stage was by Twisted Minds and Natus Vincere, with three each. However, what helped the eventual winner get ahead of the rest of the pack was the number of kills, as it was the only finalist to reach 100 frags across 18 rounds.

It was a great result for CERBERUS Esports, who only joined the list of Global Partner sides in PUBG earlier this year. It was also its biggest tournament win by far, with all these factors also helping this event accumulate 3.1M Hours Watched and 109.9K Average Viewers over 29 hours of airtime.
When looking at other PUBG competitions, the PUBG Global Series 2024 Phase 3 ended as the fifth most popular ever. It was also the most popular tournament in the discipline in five years since the PUBG Nations Cup 2019 which notched 492.7K PV.

These milestone numbers continued the good run the game has been enjoying since 2023 when both global events ended successfully. The PUBG Global Championship 2023 and the PUBG Nations Cup 2023 also made it to the top eight most popular events ever standings, with the former and the PUBG Global Series 2023 Phase 2 also ending as some of the most watched tournaments of all time.
One big factor for such a high peak concurrent viewership figure was the Vietnamese fans, who arrived in droves to support their compatriots fighting for the crown. The language witnessed a 203.9% rise in concurrent viewership compared to the PUBG Global Series 2023 Phase 2 while its watch time saw a growth of 14.3%.

The event was also covered across a lot more platforms (10 compared to seven last year), meaning there were more viewers accessing and watching the action live. This also meant a lot more channels co-casting the action, and that is never a bad thing when it comes to targeting a higher audience reach.
PUBG in 2024 has a long way to go, so fans can expect such good news to filter in more often. While CERBERUS Esports will no doubt celebrate a landmark win, it won't have much time to linger on this accomplishment as the PUBG Global Series 2024 Phase 4 begins on June 1, with the Esports World Cup 2024 coming up in August.
