Runeterra Reforged Championship is TFT's second-most popular event ever
The Runeterra Reforged Championship, the largest and the most prestigious event in the Teamfight Tactics esports circuit was held from November 3 to 5 as an online spectacle. It continued the discipline's recent renaissance, ending as the most successful esports event in the history of the game.
In the Grand Final, Japanese star Title topped the points table at the end of four matches, including three straight wins in the last three rounds, to clinch the title. He took home $150K out of a total prize pool of $456K, with the runner-up pocketing $75K and the third-placed pro becoming richer by $25K.
Most popular games and essential stats from the Runeterra Reforged Championship
The Runeterra Reforged Championship hit 158K Peak Viewers during Round 4 of the Grand Finals, which is when the winner was confirmed. Interestingly, two rounds from the Swiss Stage made it to the top five list of most popular matches, with rounds nine and ten making it. Both saw four winners each, including players who were propping up the lower end of the table at that point.
What would have helped was the extra slot won by the North American region for winning the Monsters Attack! Championship, as it is one of the more popular and followed markets for the game. Also, slots for the Eastern and Western LCQs were removed, with the previous Set’s Champion receiving an additional seed for their region. All in all, this competition also notched 1.4M Hours Watched and 94K Average Viewers over an airtime of 15 hours.

Talking about channels and streamers, two individual names stood out and helped this Teamfight Tactics competition do as well as it did. One was from France and the other from Vietnam, with both content creators known for their love for this game and for creating lots of content on it. They finished as the second and third-most watched and popular streamers, with the official channel topping on both counts.
Streaming and its proponents have helped this game make quite the comeback this year, and that is true for all disciplines that don’t enjoy the same fame as the more mainstream esports segments. Developer Riot Games also deserves credit for running the show in such a way that fans are invested not only in the game but also in its esports scene, as seen below.

Most popular and watched Teamfight Tactics competitions of all time
Speaking of getting the most viewership, when looking at the tournaments in the discipline overall, the Runeterra Reforged Championship ended as the second-most popular one ever. It also finished as the third-most watched one, with the leader on both counts being the Twitch Rivals Teamfight Tactics Showdown, which had the advantage of seeing some of the most prominent names in the content creation industry go at it. However, when strictly looking at esports competitions, it is the most popular ever, which is some achievement for a game that often enjoys only a niche crowd.
What helped the competition in question do this well were the various rewards available to viewers. The first kind was sponsored by AWS, with prizes including emotes and weapons for various characters. The second, the usual Twitch Drops, saw watchers have the opportunity to earn emotes and icons for various heroes.
This season has been quite the amazing one for Teamfiight Tactics, with some of its events doing great numbers. There has also been a renewed interest in the game this year, with its watch time on Twitch so far this year seeing an increase of 47%, while the average concurrent viewership has risen by 46%. The game will expect to build on these improvements in the 2024 season, with the stats backing it up.
