Worlds 2023 set a new absolute esports record for concurrent viewership
Note: final audience figures will be known only at the end of the tournament
Update, November 19, 10:30 WET: The event reached 6 million Peak VIewers
During the first map of the grand finals, Worlds 2023 set a new absolute record for one-time audience on live streaming platforms among esports tournaments. At its peak, the game attracted over 5.9 million concurrent viewers, 400,000+ more than the former record holder.
For two years, the industry record was held by the Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore: the most prestigious competition in the Free Fire discipline was simultaneously watched by more than 5.4 million people. Even the previous Worlds, where community casting was introduced, could not beat the achievement.
Thus, Worlds 2023 also became the third tournament in history that managed to cross the 5 million people mark at its peak. Previously, FFWS 2021 and last year’s LoL World Championship managed to do this.

In addition to the overall record, the tournament managed to set new peak indicators in major broadcast languages. Thus, new absolute esports records for one-time audiences were achieved in Korean (1.87 million Peak Viewers), English (1.64 million Peak Viewers), and Vietnamese (760.7K Peak VIewers). Interestingly, the previous records for these languages were achieved at last year's World Championship.
At the end of the first map, T1 took the lead in the series against Weibo Gaming. You can follow the match and its spectator statistics on the tournament page.
