The final match of the ninth League of Legends esports season was the encounter between G2 Esports and FunPlus Phoenix. Although this encounter did not repeat the success of the semifinals, it still received its portion of viewer interest. Which is what we'll be talking about today.

We should start from the general results of the 2019 World Championship finals. Compared to the previous competition, decent increase in all key indicators could be observed.

After one season, the competition's peak viewers indicator has increased from 2 million 50 thousand to 3 million 700 thousand people. The is 80% difference in favor of this year's championship. The average broadcast viewers indicator was updated showing an increase of than a million people – which in relative terms reaches 84%. Hours watched show a much larger difference – 117%.

It should be added that the match between Europe and China had a chance to become the quickest BO5 match in the history of League of Legends. Given such state of affairs, the hours watched increasing by 117% comes off as really surprising.

On the other hand, the final match of Worlds 2019 has failed to overcome the results of G2 versus T1 semifinal. Here we see the situation identical to one at Mid-Season Invitational. At that time SK Telecom T1 also participated in the most popular match of the competition and also passed the semifinal match against guys from G2.

What about the important moments of this encounter? It can be said that these are a mixed bag. The third map became the most popular game of the match. On the other hand, the second game was the least popular one. As we can see, the audience was interested in the start of the match, as well as in its end. The middle of the encounter displays shows a slight decrease of the attention.

The results shown by platforms aren't that cohesive either. Twitch ended up being the ultimate victor among all the broadcasting services. For most of the airtime, it was this platform that kept the majority of viewers. But time to time YouTube managed to get to the top as well.

Riot Games are known not by esports alone. Their opening ceremonies always had a special charm to them, making fans more passionate and bringing extra intensity to the upcoming match for the Summoner's Cup. This year the situation has not changed and 2 million people already were watching this event. At the same time, the pre-show with analysts was watched by half a million peak viewers. To compare, both E3 and BlizzCon were inferior to the results shown by the opening ceremony of Worlds 2019.

This is not the end of the analysis of this year's League of Legends World Championship. If you do not want to miss new articles on this topic, be sure to follow our blog. If you are interested in more detailed competition statistics, do not miss our special Esports Charts Pro subscription.
