BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024 reached series' highest peak viewership in three years
BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 202 came to an end with the final two teams confirmed for the upcoming Spring Final 2024. This event attracted significant attention, reaching 273.5K Peak Viewers, largely fueled by the hype around Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev's debut match in Counter-Strike 2. Overall, the tournament amassed the same amount of watch time as last year's European Spring Showdown and American Spring Showdown combined.
The main surprise of the tournament was the Portuguese team SAW. The roster was considered as just an underdog, as almost all other teams in its side of the bracket held higher positions in the HLTV.org rankings. Nevertheless, SAW successively eliminated Team Liquid, Cloud9, and OG, securing the spot for the Spring Final 2024.
The debut of Ukrainian esports athlete Oleksandr s1mple Kostyljev also added intrigue to the tournament. He played for Team Falcons in a match against Metizport: the series was intense, but s1mple & co couldn't overcome the team from Sweden. As for the second spot for the Spring Final 2024, there were no surprises — Team Spirit confidently secured it, defeating Metizport in the decisive match.
