Brawl Stars World Finals 2025: Crazy Raccoon clinches maiden world title as event peaks at 211,000 viewers
The last in Supercell's line of three mobile world championships concluded on November 30. Held in Stockholm as part of DreamHack Stockholm, the Brawl Stars World Finals 2025 reached just over 211,000 Peak Viewers (PV), a return to the mean after record-shattering livestreaming returns last year.
The 2025 World Championship for Brawl Stars brought together 16 of the best teams from around the world to battle it out for a massive prize pool of $1 million. Ultimately, it came down to two sides that also faced each other in the 2024 Grand Final.
HMBLE met Crazy Raccoon in a repeat of last year's summit clash, and it was the Japanese powerhouse that emerged as the 3:0 victor. The latter also avenged the Grand Final loss it suffered to its Italian rival in 2024 by the same scoreline to clinch its maiden world title in the multiplayer online battle arena and hero shooter mobile game.
The Grand Final was also the most popular game at the Brawl Stars World Finals 2025, peaking at 211,175 viewers. This was a massive drop from the 2024 edition, which set a record in the title with 1.1M Peak Viewers.
The 2025 World Championship was also only the fifth most popular Brawl Stars event. Moreover, the 2.6 million Hours Watched (HW) it accumulated put it in the fourth spot for this metric in the series. These drops occurred despite this event being the only one to accrue over 20 hours in airtime and enjoying a significant rise in the number of co-streaming channels.
While there's not one specific reason for this steep decline in livestreaming numbers, the Brawl Stars World Finals 2024 was almost the perfect storm that handsomely paid off for Supercell. It was held as part of an event dedicated solely to the organizer's games, including the Clash Royale World Finals and the Clash of Clans World Finals, at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Center.
With all the world championships taking place from November 1 to 3, Brawl Stars' viewership was undoubtedly helped by the high interest among mobile esports followers. After all, they would have caught the action across all three competitions, even if many of them were not strictly Brawl Stars fans.
Moreover, the results at the 2025 edition were not optimal for generating high viewership interest. Even as the top sides progressed to the Playoffs, six of the eight series in this phase ended in 3:0 sweeps, with only the other two witnessing competitive action as the winner clinched tightly contested 3-2 wins.
Not surprisingly, these two series — SK Gaming versus Crazy Raccoon and Revenant XSpark versus LOUD — finished as the second and third-most popular games in the tournament. However, both failed to breach the 200,000 peak concurrent viewers mark.
Perhaps Portuguese-speaking fans would have added to the viewership of the last few matches in this coveted Brawl Stars competition if LOUD had made the Semifinals. Instead, it lost to Indian esports organization Revenant XSpark, which became the first side from its country to make the top four at the Brawl Stars World Finals.
We also have to mention the time zone differences for Asia fans, who form a massive chunk of Brawl Stars' viewership. Livestreams from Sweden meant that audiences in Japan, Singapore and India had to catch the matches in the evening or late in the night.
Lastly, Western languages, especially English and Spanish, saw big drops in their numbers compared to 2024. This was mirrored in the massive drop in Twitch's figures, having finished as the most preferred platform last year, with YouTube jumping in and increasing its watch time share by a whopping 42%.
Among all the world championships in mobile esports held this year, the Brawl Stars World Finals 2025 sits in the sixth spot. The leader is the Free Fire World Series - Global Finals 2025, which peaked at 775,141 viewers to become the series' most popular event in three years.
During a year when mobile esports showed steady viewership numbers, the Brawl Stars World Finals could not maintain the milestone numbers it put up last year. However, that was an outlier, and with the kind of niche audience that the title enjoys, the figures it did put up were still satisfactory.
With another world championship done, the focus moves to the ongoing PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2025, which will run until December 14, and the Arena of Valor International Championship 2025, set to end on December 7. They will be followed by the much-anticipated M7 World Championship in January, so there's still plenty of action for mobile gaming fans to look forward to this event after the New Year festivities are over.
