CEO 2023 Fighting Game Championships — Tekken 7, Street Fighter 6 shine
The CEO 2023 Fighting Game Championships was held from June 23 to June 25 at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center and the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. It was a pretty more successful event, with Guilty Gear, Tekken 7, and Street Fighter 6 helping it record some great watch-time numbers.
The CEO Fighting Game Championships is one of the largest fighting game conventions and tournament experiences in the world held annually. Community Effort Orlando was started by a fan in the Fighting Game Community in Orlando and the rest of the state of Florida to 'bring together fans of the fighting game genre and gaming, in general, to compete, learn, and have fun.
Viewership stats from CEO 2023 Fighting Game Championships

This tournament series and convention experience for fighting game fans saw competition in ten disciplines across three days. The most popular and watched tournament was Street Fighter 6, which hit Hours Watched 872K and 117K Peak Viewers, proving why the franchise remains perhaps the premier one in the genre.
While the official CEO Gaming Twitch channel is the most popular, it was only the second most watched one. In the number one spot is the famous fighting game content creator TampaNeverSleeps, who hit an incredible 331K HW and was a major reason for this discipline reaching so many viewers. He was also the second most popular handle with 37K PV, proving why he is such a massive name in the community once again.
Other streamers who deserve credit are maximilian_dood, the third-most-popular handle and another prominent name in the FGC. Also helping the HW cause for this event is AvoidingThePuddle, another fighting game player, commentator, and variety Twitch streamer who has been really helpful in giving fans insights, news, and content on the genre.

Another title that performed well was Tekken 7, which recorded 236K HW and 35K PV. The seventh main and ninth overall installment has held the tag as the most recent title in the Tekken series since 2017, but with Tekken 8 announced and set for a Closed Network Test later this month, that label will soon be relinquished. This makes whatever tournaments are left for this game even more special.
CEO 2023 quick stats:
- 2200 unique competitors
- 2100 spectators
- 33 countries
- 45 states
Among other titles that will be satisfied with their efforts are Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and CEO 2023 Guilty Gear -Strive-. The former did 41K HW and 16K PV, while the shooter registered 42K HW and 18K PV to end as two of the more successful esports disciplines coming out of this much-loved fight games convention.

When comparing these competitions to the most popular FGC ones from 2023, it is clear that there are two clear, although unsurprising, standouts. Street Fighter and Tekken are head and shoulders above the games from this genre when it comes to attracting eyeballs to their esports competitions.
These two games have for ages been the go-to names for fighting enthusiasts, and the fact that their developers keep adding new installments to keep up to date with the times has helped them remain at the apex of their segment. Props must also go to the CEO 2023 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which ended up becoming the discipline’s most successful tournament for this year.
Those who missed out on the action at the CEO 2023 Fighting Game Championships need not fret, as the next event, the CEOtaku, will air live between September 22 and September 24 from the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida. Registrations for this convention are live, and fans/players/teams can go ahead and register themselves here, while the general schedule and other details can be spotted here.
