DPC 2023 Tour 3 results — top regions, teams, and languages
The Dota Pro Circuit 2023 Tour 3 has concluded post the final matches of the first divisions from the six regions. The teams have all secured their places at the Bali Major 2023, the third and final such tournament of the 2023 DPC season and the first to be held in Indonesia.
Season 3 of the DPC continued the falling trend in numbers, as it was the least popular of the three editions. However, a few regions did show improvements in key metrics, and Esports Charts sums up these results.
Overall stats from DPC 2023 Tour 3
The same match was the most popular for all three tours of the DPC 2023
As was the case with the DPC 2023 Tour 2, Season 3 was less successful than its predecessor in all metrics across all regions. The biggest falls were in Peak Viewers (23%) and Hours Watched (more than 22%). The Average Viewers (almost 19%) count, too, fell, meaning the final season took quite a hit across the board.
However, one thing that didn’t change, and perhaps positive was the fact that the most popular match remained the same across the three seasons. It was the Eastern Europe meeting between Team Spirit and BetBoom Team, although its peak concurrent viewership number was the lowest among their three match-ups and the only one below 200K.
Regional stats from DPC 2023 Tour 3
How each region fared compared to the previous tour
Across the latest tour, two regions were able to outperform their numbers from last season: Southeast Asia and China. This was unlike what happened during Tour 2, where all but one region (North America) saw dips compared to the DPC 2023 Tour 1.
When looking at the watch time, SEA saw a slight gain of 0.5%, while the increase for China was a much larger 23.2%. The former will have to thank Blacklist International, who finally qualified for a Major after trying twice before, for this spike in viewership, with pos 5 star Kuku set for a return to the big stage.
This was also a comeback for China, which lost close to half of its total HW between Tours 1 and 2, with the league suffering on and off the arena. What would have helped is that two Chinese sides finished in the top ten at the Berlin Major 2023, a much better result than the Lima Major 2023, where two of four representatives finished in the bottom two.
The other four regions suffered falls in HW numbers to varying degrees, with NA, ironically, the biggest loser. The region lost 39.3% of its watch time in Tour 3, more or less damaging the good work it did in Tour 2. The only other region to fall by more than 30% was Eastern Europe despite boasting of the most popular match across the season.
Despite some upsets here and there, it looks like fans saw most of the expected teams make it to the Bali Major 2023, which is why there was a drop in numbers across most regions. However, among the big names to miss out are OG, Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Talon Esports, and TSM.
Also, the bigger languages like Indonesian, Thai, English, and Russian continued to fall in viewership stats tour-on-tour. This was another reason for these regions seeing a decrease in their overall watch hours, and more details about languages will be discussed below.

After falling by 30.1% during Tour 2, Russian — one of the biggest markets for Dota 2 — dropped even more. This time, it declined by 2.9M HW, with only Thai’s fall in proportion being bigger among the more prominent languages.
This was another continued trend from the previous season, with most major languages seeing dips in their viewership numbers and shares. Only Portuguese, Spanish, and Bahasa Malaysia saw increases in their stats, with the latter two showing minor gains.

The official English-language channel — PGL_Dota2 — was the most popular at the DPC 2023 Tour 3. It also did better than the previous season, where it was also the most-watched handle among fans. Like last time betboom_ru, just_ns, and paragon_dota, finished in the top five, with another English channel, EpulzeGaming, rounding off the top five.
Interestingly, when looking at the peak viewership, both paragon_dota and EpulzeGaming had higher numbers than just_ns, with the former actually also easing past betboom_ru. The Kazakhstan-based esports broadcast studio actually did almost similar stats at the DPC 2023 Tour 2, pointing to its popularity among Dota 2 fans from the region.
Role of community casting at the recent DPC 2023 Tour 3
The ratio of community and official broadcasting of the DPC 2023 Tour 3 was almost similar to the previous tour, although the latter did see marginal growth. With community channels not being as sought after as the first tour, especially among the major languages like Russian and English, this was always going to be the case.

In Russian, Team Spirit kept its place atop the list with almost 56K Average Viewers, which was still a fall of 26.6% from Tour 2. English had a new favorite team for the third straight season, with Team Secret replacing Nigma Galaxy thanks to an average of 36K viewers per match, which was again a dip of 31.8%. Yet again, in an eerie similarity to the previous season, the most popular English-language side finished last in its division.
Spanish fans continued to support Peruvian side Evil Geniuses, who at least repaid this faith by topping its division and sealing its ticket to Bali. Filipino team Blacklist International also continued its reign as the most popular team among Tagalog-language speakers, doing them proud by qualifying for its first Major.
Unsurprisingly, Talon Esports maintained its reputation as the most sought-after side among Thai broadcasts, with the Philippines-based unit enjoying undiluted support from the SEA region in all disciplines. However, unlike Blacklist International, it failed to qualify for the season-ending Major.
The Bali Major 2023 will close off the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit season at the Ayana Estate in Bali from June 29 to July 9. The 18 qualified organizations will battle it out for $500K and 3.5K Pro Circuit points over two phases — Group Stage (June 29 to July 3, 2023) and Playoffs (July 5 to July 9).
