Esports World Cup 2025 becomes the second most popular event in Call of Duty: Warzone history
Over the weekend, another round of championships wrapped up at the ongoing Esports World Cup 2025. The Call of Duty: Warzone tournament was among them, finishing as one of the shooter’s most successful livestreamed events to date, boosted by community casting from a few of the game's top creators.
The event took place over four days and featured 21 of the world’s top trios. It offered a total prize pool of $1 million, the joint-largest in the game’s competitive history, along with valuable points toward the Club Championship standings.

In the end, Twisted Minds emerged as the champion after enduring a gruelling ten-game finale. The Saudi Arabian esports organization's victory right at the end sent the home support into a frenzy, with this moment attracting 312,793 Peak Viewers (PV).

EWC 2025 Warzone became one of the most popular tournaments in the battle royale shooter's history, with only one competitive event ahead of it, the World Series of Warzone 2023 Global Finals. It also outperformed last year's EWC edition by over 131%, meaning both CoD events at this Saudi Arabia multi-disciplinary spectacle went off well.

There were a few key reasons why the Esports World Cup 2025 Warzone performed so well. First, Gentle Mates' run to the finals, with co-owner Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein streaming all their matches. The French superstar remains a fan favorite thanks to his pro Call of Duty career, and his broadcasts consistently draw thousands of viewers.
Another major factor was Seth "Scump" Abner, a former Call of Duty pro and arguably the game’s biggest creator and co-caster today. His multistreams on Twitch and YouTube ranked him among the tournament’s top streamers by both watch time and peak live viewers.

Most-watched and most popular Warzone events
With top influencers showing a great deal of interest in the event, it also set a couple of other records. The 2.7 million Hours Watched (HW) it accrued made it the second-most watched competitive Warzone event ever, behind only the World Series of Warzone 2024 - Global Finals. The WSOW benefitted from a changed format that saw the addition of an extra day of action.
The livestreaming numbers could have been even better had Movistar KOI, co-owned by Ibai "Ibai" Llanos, made it to the finale. Instead, it finished 16th, meaning its megastar owner did not stream any of its games and thus didn't contribute to the event's growing audience figures.

When looking at the Esports World Cup 2025, the Warzone competition is among its ten most popular championships. It even beat the Call of Duty tournament, which peaked at 268,927 viewers, and other games like Chess, Rainbow Six, and Apex Legends.
In terms of the Club Championship, Twisted Minds' victory has put it back in contention for a final push at the top spot. It currently sits in the fifth place, 200 points behind Virtus.pro, and with five more disciplines in the next two weeks of the Esports World Cup, the home org could make a late charge for the title.
