Fortnite Champion Series is an official Fortnite esports circuit for Asia, Europe, North America, Brazil and Oceania. The total prize pool for all regions was $5,000,000! Anyone could compete for a share of the prize pool: one should have only assembled a team of three people and apply for an open qualifier. The winners of the tournament were determined by the highest number of points.

Fortnite Champion Series Grand Royale Finals viewership stats

Comparing all the tournaments, Europe showed the best results — 169K viewers at the peak of broadcasts. The region united many countries, so the audience was quite diverse: 42% of total Hours Watched number were generated by the viewers of English-language broadcasts, 15% came from German-language channels, 12% from the French-speaking audience.

The first place by viewers in Europe was taken by the German streamer Amar with 30.8K Peak Viewers. The top 5 also includes aussieantics, solaryfortnite and jacob4tv. One should note that not all the participants casted the competition, and this affected the viewership stats of the event. The winners in Europe are Hen (a member of the Guild Esports team), TaySon and Chapix. They got $600,000 for a team.

As usual, North America was divided into two tournaments — West and East. Western division attracted 113K viewers at its peak, which places it second among the final events of the series. The winners of the West are Arkham (100 Thieves member), Reet and EpikWhale from NRG Esports (the trio earned $105,000). As for streamers, jelty took first place with 54.8K Peak Viewers on his broadcast, while Fortnite official channel attracted only 16.2K Peak Viewers.

Although Eastern North America drew 20K fewer Peak Viewers, it lacked only 1K Average Viewers to keep up with the West. In short, the audience of matches on both coasts turned out to be almost the same. The champions of East are Duke (True North Gaming), Mero (Team New Age) and Bugha (Sentinels). They won $285,000 for the team.

Fortnite is one of the few games with the most open esports ecosystem possible. Any player can try their best at the esports scene together with more experienced esports players. Moreover, it is not exactly necessary to win tournaments, but it is important to regularly get into the top 10-20 of the best players in order to get a name on the scene.

Thanks to the open competitions, amateurs have the opportunity to be noticed by large organizations and advance their esports career. One of the examples is the 16-year-old Ajerss from the East North American Division. He participated in nine FNCS events and finished in top 20 several times: thus, he was noticed by G2 Esports.

The second chapter of Fortnite Season 8 is drawing to a close and the FNCS Grand Royale Finals is the final esports spot in Chapter 2 of Battle Royale. On December 5, Fortnite will host the last in-game event of this season — "The End", in which players will fight with the Cube Queen.
