TSM are leading in the North-American region, but how did they show themselves on LCS? In this article we will tell you about the results of the regular season of LCS Spring 2020.

The group stage was held from January 25 to March 29. The viewers peak of the regular season was on the 2nd day of the first week and concluded 387K viewers on the match between TSM and IMT. 250K of these viewers were watching the match on Twitch and 137K on YouTube.

Initially, Riot Games wanted to try the new tournament format. They wanted to hold their events on Monday, in addition to weekends. The main point of this: with such schedule esports can evade the rivalry with traditional sports and attract more viewers. That's why Riot created Monday Night League with its own studio and casters.

It's a pity that due to the current world situation with COVID-19 they rejected this idea and came back to their old weekend schedule.

The English-speaking viewers conclude the largest part of the broadcast spectators, but the stream was viewed also by French-speaking (18K), Italian-speaking (7K) people, because Riot Games has launched the official streams in these languages since the 4th week of the tournament.

As for the results of the teams, TSM were the most popular in terms of the viewership statistics. It’s not surprising, as TSM are one of the most successful teams in this region. Also, they managed to stop the winning streak of Cloud9 on this event.

On the second place by the average viewers category is team Cloud9. They even got the 1st place in the LCS All-Pro Team category basing on the voting of casters, third-party media and the players themselves.

Moving on to the most popular matches of the regular season. Besides from the result of the first week, the match between the main rivals of the tournament TSM and Cloud9 on the 4th week also attracted the spectators and gathered 302K viewers at the peak.

The viewership dynamics has gotten worse by the end of the regular season, but the situation has changed with the beginning of the playoffs. One of the last matches of the regular season between Cloud9 and Liquid collected 282K at its peak.

Cloud9 managed to attract the audience with their gaming skill and their perseverance. Moreover, they have the biggest win rate in the regular season - 94% and they’ve finished the season with the final 17 to 1 score.

The regular season of LCS 2020 has shown quite good results. The viewers peak has increased on 15% compared to the previous year. Later we’ll see how the viewership statistics will change after the playoffs.

More detailed report of this tournament will be released after the end of the event. There we’ll take a look at the details and will compare the results with the main rival - LEC.
