MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 enters year’s top three, leads EWC 2026

Aug 03, 2026 • 3 min readThe MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 reached 2.89 million Peak Viewers, becoming the most-watched tournament of EWC 2026 so far and the third-most-popular esports event of the year, with MLBB competitions occupying all three top spots by peak audience.
MSC 2026 also produced an unusual viewership curve: its audience peaked during the quarterfinals rather than on either of the final two days, while the Grand Final ranked only fifth among the tournament’s most-watched matches. This reflected an upset-heavy bracket that removed several major regional favorites before the closing stages.
Major upsets reshaped the playoff bracket
Both 2025 finalists were eliminated during the Group Stage. Team Liquid PH ended its title defense without a series win, while Selangor Red Giants also missed the Knockout Stage, removing two pre-tournament favorites before the playoffs.

Team Spirit then swept Team Vamos and ONIC before defeating Yangon Galacticos in a seven-game Grand Final. Yangon reached the decider after victories over PRO Esports and Team Falcons PH, leaving the title match without teams from Indonesia, the Philippines, or Malaysia.
MSC 2026 peaked before the final weekend
MSC 2026 reached 2.89 million Peak Viewers during the quarterfinal between ONIC and Aurora Gaming. The Grand Final between Team Spirit and Yangon Galacticos ranked only fifth, while four of the tournament’s five most-watched matches featured either ONIC or Team Falcons PH.

With no Indonesian, Philippine, or Malaysian team in the Grand Final, interest across MLBB’s largest regional markets likely peaked earlier in the bracket. A more conventional late-stage lineup could have pushed MSC closer to the 2025 record.

MSC remains among 2026’s biggest events despite YoY decline

MSC 2026 finished below last year’s edition, with Peak Viewers down 5.9%, Hours Watched down 10.2%, and Average Viewers down 14.7%, despite slightly longer airtime. However, the event remained comfortably ahead of MSC 2024 across all three audience metrics.
The result also makes it increasingly unlikely that EWC 2026 will produce a tournament capable of surpassing last year’s 3.07 million peak. Most of the festival’s strongest viewership draws have already concluded, leaving Counter-Strike and PUBG Mobile as the only realistic challengers to MSC’s 2.89 million result, although both would need exceptional performances to overtake it.

Despite the decline, MSC became the clear viewership leader of EWC 2026, reaching nearly twice the peak audience of its League of Legends tournament. It also ranked third among all esports events held in 2026, behind only the M7 World Championship and MPL Indonesia Season 17.
