MSC 2026 team viewership shows popularity did not always follow results

Aug 03, 2026 • 2 min readNeither MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 finalist led the tournament by Hours Watched or Average Viewers, according to Esports Charts data presented by Hellcase. Instead, the Hours Watched ranking was topped by a semifinalist, while the highest average audience belonged to a quarterfinalist. The contrast shows that competitive progress and audience pull were only partly aligned.

ONIC Esports emerged as the tournament’s strongest overall viewership driver, ranking inside the top two by both metrics and appearing in the event’s most-watched match. Aurora Gaming presented the clearest contrast between popularity and results: despite exiting in the quarterfinals, its matches attracted the highest average audience. Bigetron by Vitality had a similar disconnect between their final placement and their viewer count.

Yangon Galacticos made a surprise run to the Grand Final and finished in the top three for both viewership metrics. Champion Team Spirit, meanwhile, placed fourth by Hours Watched and outside the top five by Average Viewers. They took home the trophy without commanding the biggest crowds.

Most of the popular teams were from Southeast Asian markets, with Aurora being the main exception. Fans are still largely tuning in just to watch teams from their own regions. The actual tournament results are getting more diverse. Malaysia won MSC 2024, and Team Spirit just won the EECA region its first major title. The trophies are leaving the traditional Philippine and Indonesian powerhouses, but the audience is staying put.
