PGL Bucharest 2025: 500,000 Peak Viewers tuned In to witness Team Falcons’ triumph

Team Falcons have finally taken down G2 Esports in an official tournament — and Nikola ‘’NiKo’’ Kovač did it in the grand final of PGL Bucharest 2025, defeating his former team in front of a peak audience of 500,000 viewers. With the win, Team Falcons secured their first international S-tier title in Counter-Strike 2. Esports Charts has also released the full viewership breakdown for the tournament.

Team Falcons’ road to victory at PGL Bucharest 2025 was filled with drama and adversity. The team struggled early on, suffering losses in their first two matches during the Swiss Stage against Complexity Gaming and GamerLegion. In their series against GL, Falcons were only able to win three rounds across two maps. At that point, it seemed like their tournament hopes were dashed. Fans believed Team Falcons were just one step away from elimination — but what came next was a stunning surprise. Team Falcons went on to defeat paiN Gaming and Rare Atom, and in the crucial decider match, they triumphed over the strong squad of The Mongolz.

In the first round of the playoffs, Team Falcons faced GamerLegion once again and this time managed to get revenge. In the semifinals, NiKo’s squad won a hard-fought series against FaZe Clan, and in the decisive match, they delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over G2 Esports.

Winning PGL Bucharest 2025 marked Team Falcons' first significant achievement on the international stage. There’s now hope for more consistent results in the future, especially with Ilya ‘’m0nesy’’ Osipov, a talented sniper and former G2 Esports player, set to join the Falcons roster. Fans can look forward to NiKo's reunion with his former teammate at IEM Melbourne 2025.

PGL Bucharest 2025 Viewership Statistics

PGL Bucharest 2025 Viewership Statistics

The broadcasts of PGL Bucharest 2025 accumulated a total of over 14.2 million hours of watch time. On average, each broadcast drew 198,481 viewers, with the peak hitting 518,849 concurrent viewers.

The grand final became the most-watched match of the tournament. However, another highly ranked match was the intense elimination series between Team Falcons and The Mongolz. The two teams battled fiercely, with the series going into overtime. Notably, the final attracted 36% more viewers than the second most-watched match. This surge in viewership was driven not only by the prestige of the final itself but also by the added drama of NiKo facing off against his former team.

The viewership statistics for PGL Bucharest 2025 were about the same as those for PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, especially when considering the difference in tournament lengths. However, there were some interesting regional shifts. English-language broadcasts saw a slight decline in viewership, while Russian-language streams saw a boost. This increase is likely tied to the presence of Russian players — m0nesy and Abdulkhalik ‘’Degster’’ Gasanov — on the rosters of both finalists.

Viewership for Polish-language broadcasts saw a significant boost, nearly doubling, thanks to the rise in popularity of the Piotr ‘’izakOOO’’ Skowyrski channels, a well-known Polish community caster. Additionally, many Polish Counter-Strike fans tuned in to watch Polish team Betclic Apogee Esports, who, despite not making it to the playoffs, impressed with strong performances against The Mongolz and Astralis during the Swiss Stage.

Looking ahead, the next PGL Counter-Strike 2 tournament will be PGL Astana 2025, running from May 10 to 18. Fans can keep up with the event on the Esports Charts coverage page.
