The tournament known as The Gauntlet became the logical conclusion of the second season of Overwatch Contenders. The most powerful second-tier teams from all over the world have fought within its bounds. But how did the game fans react to the tournament?

First, let's talk about the format of the Overwatch Contenders competition season. In general, this competitive year was divided into two parts. First, the best teams of the West and East competed in their regional tournaments – and next, the very best of those went to the Atlantic Showdown and Pacific Showdown, respectively.

Based on the results of these competitions, the number of quotas from each league at OWC: The Gauntlet was decided. North America received the most invitations in the western part of the world. In case of the eastern part, the extra spots went to the teams from the Korean championship.

The competition itself has gathered almost 20 thousand peak viewers, as well as 9.6 thousand average viewers. The hours watched indicator has reached 243 thousand hours.

The only representative of the European region, Hic Sunt Leones, became the most popular team of the competition. At the same time, the teams of Talon and EM have participated in the most popular match. What's more interesting, the competition's peak was reached not during the playoffs, but in the first match, which was held as part of group A.

The mid-season events are worth adding to the comparison. In this case, The Gauntlet will take the middle of the ranking. It turned out to be less popular than the Pacific Showdown, but more interesting than the Atlantic Showdown.

The peak viewers difference with Asian competition was only 0.5%. At the same time, the increase compared to Atlantic Showdown has reached 17%. By the average viewers, the gap turned out to be much larger, since the Pacific Showdown was 18% ahead of The Gauntlet. The result has also decreased as compared to the western championship – this time amounting to merely an increase of 1.8%.

What about the teams? At the Western Conference competition, Team EnVyUs became the most popular team by the average match viewers. The top spot of the Atlantic championship was taken by representatives of Australia - ORDER.

In conclusion, we can say that the competition has definitely sparked interest. However, it seems that the regional competitions are more to the taste of the discipline's fans. These competitions have their own advantages: a more convenient schedule for a specific region, a large number of home teams and much more.
