RLCS 2022-23 - Spring Split Major becomes second most popular Rocket League event ever
The RLCS Spring Major, the third international major in the 2022-23 season, was held from July 6 to July 9 at the Agganis Arena in Boston. At the end of it all, it ended up as the second-most popular and fourth-most watched Rocket League event ever.
For three days, teams from around the world battled for a final chance to qualify for the Rocket League World Championship. Team Vitality emerged victorious, beating Team BDS 4:2, 4:1 in the Grand Final to pocket $100K and clinch 48 RLCS Points in the final major of the twelfth season of the Rocket League Championship Series.

This coveted Rocket League competition hit 323K Peak Viewers on the final day during the Grand Final between Team Vitality & Team BDS. Four of the five most popular matches were from the last day of action, with the fifth entry being the Day 3 Upper Bracket Semifinal between Karmine Corp and Moist Esports. The former prevailed 4:1 in a clash of sides owned by two famous content creators — Kamet0 and MoistCr1TiKaL.
Moreover, Team Vitality and Karmine Corp made three appearances each on this top five list, pointing to their enduring popularity and drawing power. Losing finalist Team BDS had multiple entries as well, with two, as both these matches came against the two sides mentioned above. All this also meant that the RLCS 2022-23 - Spring Split Major did 4.2M Hours Watched and 133K Average Viewers over an airtime of 31 hours.

Unsurprisingly, and as an extension of the above points, Team Vitality was the most popular side in this tournament. There were other familiar names in the top five who, with their consistency in Rocket League, have fostered loyal and large fanbases worldwide.
The tournament winner was also the most-watched team, thanks to its long run to the top of the podium which included playing seven matches, the highest among all the participants. The official English channel of this discipline topped both the usual metrics. However, the second and third most popular handles were from some well-known names in the Rocket League content creation scene & wild guest appearances.
When looking at languages, it was English and French that topped the charts, together taking up 95.5% of the overall pie. There was similar dominance in the struggle between platforms, as Twitch notched 89.1% of the total viewership chart.

Interestingly, four of the top five entries on the above list have come over the last two seasons, which is when the discipline underwent a change to an annual circuit format with region expansions and international majors. There are now three splits — Fall, Winter, and Spring — each containing three regional events that lead into an international major. The RLCS 2022-23 - Spring Split Major also ended as the fourth most-watched Rocket League tournament ever, with this top five too dominated by events from the last two seasons. However, it was the only event from the current season to make this list, acting as motivation for the organizers and partners to continue working on maintaining Rocket League esports as one of the best and most well-set up today.
For now, fans can look forward to the RLCS 2022-23 - World Championship at the PSD Bank Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany, from August 4 to August 13. All the qualified teams have been decided as well, with eight heading to the Group Stage of the main event and sixteen sides booking their places in the Wildcard stage, from where eight more will advance to make it an event 16 in the Group Stage.
