November turned out to be one of the busiest months of this year in terms of popular esports tournaments. If in May the competitions in mobile disciplines gathered millions of viewers, then standing out this time were the world championships in League of Legends and CS:GO. Esports Charts overviews the results of November and tells which events attracted the most viewers.

Top tournaments in November

The main esports event of the last month of autumn was the League of Legends World Championship — Worlds 2021. The decisive match of the tournament showed phenomenal viewer activity, with over 4M Peak Viewers watching the confrontation between EDward Gaming and DWG KIA. This is a record not only for League of Legends but also across all of the PC disciplines, as only Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore scored more among all the events.

The second spot was taken by the PGL Stockholm Major in CS:GO, which has kept the audience waiting for two whole years. The finals of the championship, featuring an encounter of Natus Vincere and G2 Esports, were watched by more than 2.7M Peak Viewers. Not a single tournament in the discipline ever reached such heights, with the previous record for Peak Viewers being exceeded more than twice!

The top 5 events of the month also included mobile gaming tournaments. ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2021 tournament was held in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, featuring the best teams of regional leagues. The clash of the Indonesian team RRQ Hoshi and Blacklist International from Philippines in the semifinals attracted 1.7M Peak Viewers.

The fourth spot was taken by one of the largest Free Fire tournaments in 2021: the Asia Championship. Thanks to fans of the game from India, Indonesia, and Vietnam, the decisive round of the final day of the tournament reached over 1M Peak Viewers!

Closing the top 4 was the BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2021, which became the most popular one in the series. NAVI and Team Vitality met in the decisive match, and the team from the CIS has prevailed. The final match attracted 861K Peak Viewers.

What was popular on Twitch?

The Twitch audience is mostly following the PC disciplines, so at the end of the month, the platform’s top channels were the ones broadcasting Worlds 2021 and PGL Major Stockholm. The first spot was taken by the official English-language channel of Riot Games, on which more than 882K people followed the decisive moments of the Worlds final. The second spot is taken by the Korean-language channel of LCK with 628K viewers during the final.

The third to fifth spots were occupied by the channels broadcasting PGL Major Stockholm. The official English-language PGL channel gathered the most Peak Viewers – 628K. It exceeded the Russian-language broadcast from WePlay (616K Peak Viewers) by only 12K people. The Peak Viewers indicators for both broadcasts were reached during the finals.

Closing the top 5 was the Brazilian streamer Alexandre Gaules Borba – the official Portuguese-speaking commentator of the tournament. His channel attracted 343 Peak Viewers during the playoff match between Gambit and the Brazilian team FURIA.

What tournaments did the English-speaking viewers watch?

In November, the English-speaking audience mainly followed the Worlds and the PGL Major, with the Peak Viewers indicator of the League of Legends World Championship being only 9% higher: the competitions gained 1.18M and 1.08M Peak Viewers, respectively. Closing the top 3 was another CS:GO tournament: BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2021 (372K Peak Viewers).

Twitch Rivals x World Series of Warzone streaming event took the fourth place. As part of the event, a solo competition for $100K (the entire sum going to the winner) was held, ending in the victory of Seth Scump Abner. Towards its end, the event gathered 203K viewers on English-language streams.

The top five was closed by another Call of Duty: Warzone tournament — Last Dance in Verdansk. Top content creators of North America participated in the event (DrDisRespect, TimTheTatman, Swagg, HusKerrs and others), and at its peak the event attracted more than 184.5K English-speaking viewers.

What did the Russian-speaking audience watch?

Unlike with English-speaking esports fans, League of Legends barely attracts several thousand viewers in the CIS. That said, the Russian-speaking audience has shown no interest in Worlds 2021. The first and second spots were taken by the Stockholm Major and BLAST Premier with 1M and 316K Peak Viewers, respectively.

It should be noted that a showmatch, organized by one of the most popular streamers of the Russian-speaking Twitch segment, Vyacheslav Buster Leontyev, got into the top 3. He organized a match against the roster of Gambit-2017 (the first to win the CS:GO Major among the CIS-based teams) attracting more than 55K Peak Viewers.

It is also noteworthy that the viewers from the CIS have also shown interest in the PUBG Mobile Pro League European Championship, which gathered more than 51K Russian-speaking Peak Viewers. The tournament was also broadcasted by one of the most popular Twitch content creators in the RU region - Dmitry Recrent Osintsev.

Worlds 2021 closed the top five, although usually the audience from the CIS does not show much interest in League of Legends. The Russian-language broadcast of the final was simultaneously watched by up to 44.8K people.
