EMEA Masters Summer 2023 Play-In sees Team GO ride wave of home support
The EMEA Masters Summer 2023 got underway on August 14 and will run until September 8, and so far, the Play-In (Groups and Knockout Stage) round has ended. It has gotten off to a sedate start so far compared to the first four days of last year’s iteration, but that is to be expected given the changed status of the league and its format this time.

This League of Legends event hit 33K Peak Viewers over the first four days thanks to the Play-In Knockout Stage game between Team GO and We Love Gaming, which the former won 2-0. With it being held at the Sud de France Arena in Perols, France, there was massive for home side Team GO, reflected in the fact that it appeared in the first four entries on the list of five most popular matches so far.
At the end of the Play-In Knockout Stage, four sides — GTZ Esports, Team GO, Anorthosis Esports, and Dsyre — joined the 12 already-qualified teams in the Group Stage. The competition has a prize pool of $163K, with the winner pocketing $43.5K and the runner-up taking home $27K.
Some prominent LoL organizations in action are Karmine Corp, SK Gaming Prime, Movistar Riders, and İstanbul Wildcats, with Kamet0’s boys sure to be the most supported. The Group Stage will see teams divided into four groups in a double round-robin format, with all matches being played in the Bo1 format. The top two sides from each pool will advance to the Playoffs, where they will play in a single elimination bracket in Bo5 matches.
