Matches of ESL Pro League Season 16 have started in Malta on August 31, and the event will run til October 2. The competition features 24 teams from Europe, North America, Brazil, and the CIS. Most of the participants received invitations as ESL partners, while the rest of the teams were selected based on the ESL team rating and the EPL Conference Stage preliminary qualifier.
The prize pool of ESL Pro League Season 16 amounts to $835K. The winner will receive $175K, as well as quotas for BLAST World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023. As a reminder, the playoff matches will be played at the Salini Resort venue.

Tournament format
Participants of ESL Pro League Season 16 are divided into four groups of six teams each. There they are competing in a series of round-robin matches with a best-of-two (bo3) format. The best teams from each group will advance to the second round of the playoffs. The teams that take the second or third spots in the groups will start from the first round of the playoffs. The rest of the participants will leave the tournament.

The playoff stage is a single-elimination bracket. There, the teams will play matches up to two wins (bo3), and in the grand final - up to three wins (bo5).

It should be reminded that FaZe Clan became the champion of ESL Pro League Season 15, which defeated ENCE in the final. The tournament was held in March-April 2022 in Düsseldorf at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.
