New viewership peak reached — MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2022 playoffs day 1 recap

The playoffs of one of the biggest Mobile Legends international events, MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2022, have started in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. To the delight of fans, both local teams made it to the upper bracket semi-finals of the event, which finals are taking place at the country's largest exhibition center MITEC. On the first day of the decisive stage, the quarter-finals of the winner's bracket took place, the only matches of playoffs that were held in a best-of-3 format. In the first game of the day, MPL PH S9 champions RSG Philippines took down Myanmar qualifier winners Falcon Esports with a final score of 2:1. The teams from Malaysia, Orange Esports & TODAK, booked themselves the spots in the semi-finals of the upper bracket, defeating RSG Singapore and MPL PH S9 runner-up Omega Esports, respectively.

All the games amassed an impressive concurrent viewership, but the tournament's new peak was reached during the final match of the day when RRQ Hoshi faced off EVOS Singapore.

RRQ Hoshi is the most popular MLBB team in the world and its matches attracted the biggest audience during the group stage: so their first playoffs game reached the highest viewership to no surprise. RRQ secured a spot in the semi-final of the winners bracket, and their match against EVOS SG peaked at 1.65 million concurrent viewers, which is a new record for the tournament. It's 46% more than the most popular game of the group stage gathered (RRQ vs Omega Esports).

Compared to the group stage, average viewership went up by 71% as it reached 495K viewers. In total, spectators spent over 5.5 million hours watching games that were on air for over 11 hours: an impressive start for the knockout stage.

MSC 2022 will continue on June 15 with one match in the lower bracket & one semi-final in the upper bracket. First, Falcon will play vs RSG Singapore for the right to continue fighting in the tournament, and in the TODAK vs RRQ match the first upper bracket finalist will be determined. All the matches to be played in Bo5 format.
