Mobile Legends 2024 Esports Season

On January 23, Moonton Games released a press release confirming what many had already been expecting. The highly successful Gamers8 multi-discipline event in Saudi Arabia has been replaced by an Esports World Cup that the hosts claimed would 'be the world's largest esports event' when it takes place this summer.
MLBB is set to be one of the competitive titles featured at the Esports World Cup, but its usual mid-season tournament — MLBB Southeast Asia Cup — has been replaced. The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC), alongside the MLBB Women's Invitational (MWI), will head to the West Asian country's capital.
The MLBB Mid Season Cup will take place from July 1 to 14, with the Wildcard Stage, first trialed at the record-breaking M5 World Championship, set to be introduced here as well. It will also boast an incredible prize money of $3M, the largest ever in the game's competitive history, with the number of participating regions also going up to 14 during the Main Stage.
Here's a breakdown of the number of slots each region will receive:
- Indonesia (two slots)
- The Philippines (two)
- Middle East & North Africa (two)
- Malaysia (one)
- Singapore (one)
- Cambodia (one)
- Myanmar (one)
- North America (one)
- Eastern Europe & Central Asia (one)
- Turkey (one)
- LATAM (one)
- China (one)
- Wild Card Stage (one)
The women's competition, meanwhile, will also get an updated purse of $500K, a rise of 1566.66% from the previous highest amount in the women's side of the sport. It will see 12 participating regions and countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia & Singapore, China, MENA, EECA, the Mekong Region (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam), Brazil, and NA.
The MWI will also see an extended format that hasn't been revealed yet. However, the game's publisher added in the statement that fans don't have to wait long for details on dates and the exact format will be announced soon.
MLBB Esports viewership is consistently increasing

2023 was a great year for the game's competitive scene, with the two world championships successively becoming the most popular ever in the discipline. They also finished fourth and fifth on the list of most popular esports competitions ever, behind the biggest events from League of Legends and Free Fire.

The women's side, too, saw the record-setting 32nd SEA Games - Women's Tournament break the peak concurrent viewership record for female esports. It became the first such competition to cross the 1M PV mark, with the MLBB Women's Invitational 2023 also finishing fifth among the most popular women's MLBB events ever.
It speaks to this mobile discipline's fame and evolving ability that despite other titles in its segment seeing flagging numbers, MLBB's viewership figures continue to amaze. With the changes mentioned for the upcoming season, things only seem to be getting more exciting, and it will be interesting to see how the game does with some of its most prominent tournaments moving to a new setting.
