ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2023’s first-day viewership stats top last year’s efforts
The ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2023, one of the newer top-tier international events on the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports calendar, kicked off on November 15 at the GBK Basketball Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia. Serving as a final warm-up for teams before the much-anticipated M5 World Championship, this competition has gotten off to a great start, doing much better than its predecessor when it comes to Day 1 viewership statistics.
While most of the results on the opening day of the Group Stage went as per plan, there were a couple of major surprises. EVOS Legends and Rex Regum Qeon, two of the most followed sides in the discipline globally, lost their matches, meaning they now have all to play for on the second and final day.

The ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2023 recorded 491K Peak Viewers on the first day thanks to the Group Stage, Day 1 meeting between Bigetron Alpha and ECHO, which the former won 1:0. This was a meeting between two industry heavyweights from Indonesia and The Philippines, respectively.
The former is also the reigning world champion by way of its M4 World Championship victory. Unfortunately, ECHO wasn't able to qualify for this year's edition, meaning it won't be present to defend a crown it won handsomely at the start of the year.

Moving to the most popular teams, despite its opening match loss, EVOS Legends was number one, beating the second-placed side by less than a thousand people. This list is so far filled with names fans expect to see, and their performances have also helped this MLBB tournament record 2.6M Hours Watched and 166K Average Viewers over an airtime of 16 hours.
Moving to how the current edition has fared compared to the Day 1 stats of the ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2022, it did 99.6%, 79.4%, and 30.6% better in terms of HW, PV, and AV, respectively. One major reason was the sheer volume of channels live streaming the event, as this number went up from 51 in 2022 to 163 this time around.
Moreover, the change in format from just single-elimination Playoffs to one with a two-day Group Stage and then a three-day Playoffs has ensured fans get to see more of their favorite players and teams, meaning an increase in interest levels in this event. The addition of three new regions — North America, MENA, and China — has also played a part in more viewers tuning in, as seen in the fact that there are a lot more languages in 2023, with English witnessing a significant rise in its watch time thanks to added viewers from the West.

Looking at all the editions of the ONE Esports MPL Invitational, this year's effort seems on track to surpass the ones from 2022 and 2020. However, surpassing the most successful one from 2021 looks like a tall ask, although not out of the realm of possibility if all the big names continue doing well, including those from the West and China.
Day 2 of the ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2023 was ongoing at the time of writing this article, and things had become pretty intense. After all, the first-placed side from each group will advance to the Upper Bracket, while the runner-ups will head to the Lower Bracket and the bottom two will be eliminated. Fans can catch all the live action on the official channels of MLBB and ONE Esports, while statistical info can be found for MLBB and many other esports on our website.
