Red Bull Kumite 2024 New York is series’ second event to cross 100K Peak Viewers
The Red Bull Kumite 2024 New York was held from March 16 to 18 at the Green Point Terminal Warehouse in New York. It saw 16 players battle it out in a single-elimination format for a prize pool of $50,000, with the winner earning $9,000.
At the end of three days of action, MenaRD beat NuckleDu 5:0 in the Grand Finals to emerge as the champion. The Dominican made up for a poor showing at the Capcom Cup X to reassert his reputation as one of the best Street Fighter 6 players today.

The Red Bull Kumite 2024 New York recorded 108.4K Peak Viewers during the summit clash between two of the five biggest earners in the discipline ever. It was the only match to cross the 100K PV mark, with MenaRD's high following seen in the fact that he appeared in three of the five most popular games list.
NuckleDu and Punk were the other players with multiple entries on this table, with two each. These three were also among the most popular players by average online viewers, and their efforts meant this tournament hit 832.5K Hours Watched and 48K Average Viewers over 17 hours of airtime.

This competition ended as the second most watched and popular one in the Red Bull Kumite series, behind only the Red Bull Kumite 2023 - South Africa on both counts. This means that the last two events back-to-back have been huge successes, further proving that the advent of Street Fighter 6 has had a positive influence on the competitive scene.
Another big reason for this success is the interest taken in these Street Fighter 6 competitions by popular streamers, especially Japanese, like fps_shaka. He was the most popular individual channel here, almost matching the official Twitch handle. Similarly, stylishnoob4 had a big part to play at the previous tournament, ending as the most popular channel overall.
Street Fighter 6's esports success has boosted the fighting game subsection of esports overall, showing there is still life in a segment that continues to boast a loyal fanbase. With many more events to come, it remains to be seen if the discipline and its fans will look at 2024 as a turning point.
